So I went and bought a boat....

I hear you Don, and do undestand. In our case we have a fairly large lake/reservoir with 20 minutes of the house, and launching is not that much of a hassle. I've subletted a slip there in the past for about $100 a month in the past. Probably a bit more today?? I kept the sailboat in a saltwater slip in SF Bay for over 6 years. Spent more on slip fees than I initially did for the boat. This boat is a little more user friendly. With the lake and being surrounded by the Ca Delta we shouldn't have a lack of nearby places to launch. It'll make a great little overnighter, or for chasing stripper and salmon on the Sacramento River... Besides the whole thing ran me $600 bucks!! Boat and trailer. I have room to play... :-)

Certainly makes thAt a worthy project. Anchors away.

. ya, even at 70 I still want to water ski even though I don't have the strength or stamina I should have for that activity!

Exercise helps a lot. When my 6' 4" 200lb 38 yr old son visited at Christmas we did some exercises and I was stronger than he is. I am 73 and exercise regularly and he had recently started exercising.

You know first thing that comes to mind when I see this thread, Im gonna buy me a boat.

That was great!!!

So condor is all set for the apocolypse and with his guns, boats, bikes, and probably other toys..

Now I return you to reguraly scheduled thread and post, never mind me. btw I wished I could be..... I miss my guns and boat....

I sometimes wonder if I'd been adopted.. My kinda video.... And I'm the only one in the family that can relate to that kinda stuff...

After owning a boat many many years ago, I found it was much cheaper to enjoy my boating aboard a cruise ship...

Yep.. Nothing beats a bucket of beer by the pool aboard a cruise ship... before leaving port... :)

Well condor it appears I may need a 🚤 can I borrow yours, guess our creeks will soon be rivers and some roads and fields will become lakes. If it keeps raining might need to build an arc....

I just like to fish thinking about just getting a paddle boat with a trolling motor. small simple and big enuff for me and the two little ones

Seriously - looks like a fun project!!! Also - from what my girls have been telling me about how much rain you folks got out there this year - sounds like something you may need just to get into town!!!!

Nothing beats a 12ft aluminum with a 10hp kicker when things get sloppy.

Since I'm only in the thing $600 bucks I'm still working on the first thou..... These Four Winns Sundowner 205 seem to be going for 8-10K on a single axle trailer, So I have a little wiggle room to play... :)

Deep breath... The BOAT acronym has been around for as long as I can remember.... And in many cases very true....:mo money:

I have never heard of that this would be the first time ever... I actually had a 25 hp 1954 johnson motor. Might be off on the name but it was red and white and reminded me of a 57 chevy....

B.O.A.T. I guess it's when you hang around with the boating crowd for a while that it gets tossed around. It's a favorite saying in all the West Marine Stores... :-) The other one is a hole in the water that you throw money into... :whistling:

Got the upholstery for the most part tossed overboard, and the engine briefly kicked over and it sounded healthy. We drained the fuel tank (27gallons) about half way and added two cans of Sea Foam, and the kids now have full tanks in their cars. It's coming along...
