Kretz Posted April 7, 2017 #1 Posted April 7, 2017 (edited) Does anyone know if the Harley-D removable racks will fit a RSTD (2009) there are a few different ones eg https://ca.nastyhog.com/collections/sissy-bars-racks/products/detachable-stealth-luggage-rack-for-harley-touring https://ca.nastyhog.com/collections/sissy-bars-racks/products/air-wing-luggage-rack-for-harley-davidson-2009-2016 I'd like to add a top box & I'd need a flat rack to support it (the stock Yamaha rack is a bit useless) I'd like to be able to remove the rack & top box (just like I can remove the stock Yamaha sissy bar/ rack) Has anyone done this? https://ca.nastyhog.com/collections/yamaha/products/ltp-legacy-tour-pack OR, OR, OR Will a Venture rear rack/ top box fit on the RSTD (2009) but I'd really like it to be removable if possible. videoarizona Posted April 7, 2017 #2 Posted April 7, 2017 Wonder if this would work for you....maybe they can make a quick release set up, too.... http://www.wompusracks.com/ Found them just searching around one day...
M61A1MECH Posted April 7, 2017 #3 Posted April 7, 2017 A number of folks over on the Stratoliner forums have used the Wompusrack solution. If you get something and decide to add lights to the back of it. I can help with that.

All the research I performed before adding a trunk to my 2005 RSTD indicated that the Harley mounting points are quite different than ours. IMHO, if you want a trunk that is removable so you can interchange it with the backrest for example, you should find another backrest (assuming you don't want to hack up the one you have) and have it chopped and fabricated into a trunk mount. I almost went this route but decided that in all reality, once I got the trunk on I wouldn't ever see a need to swap between it and a backrest. 5 years later and this is still the case. I found a Venture trunk mount and fender (mounting) rails and a HD trunk and have never looked back.
