Carb Drain Plugs

Do any members, happen to have 4 carb drain plugs , part number 4KP-14191-00-00, that they are willing to sell. I can't stand the thought of having to wait till the end of the month for them to come off back order. I'm tempted to just have them put the old ones back in, but I don't know enough about these carbs, to know if they are known to fail. Hate to have to take the bike back in again .

Are they stripped or what? I thought they were just a metal threaded plug with flat washers. If they sealed when removed they should seal now depending on what the washers are made out of. I would feel compeled to ask why they are unserviceable. Wish I had e tras to toss your way. Check with Morleys Muscle or Dannymax on the Vmax side if nobody here has, no doubt they will have some. Im over there daily so let me know if you'd like me to check P&A for ya.

I'm wondering if the "backorder" is just a cover story. Tell the shop they can get the parts from partzill.com in a couple days and see what they say.

I've called partzilla as well as several other online parts house, contacted a couple of amazon sellers as well. They all verify that the parts are on back order, so I'm assuming they are being honest. I did ask why the older ones could not be used. They tell me that the plugs are tapered, no O-rings , and that he is afraid that they will not seal properly when he puts them ack in. So...... I guess I'm going to just have to wait for them to come in.

I will also call the 2 parts places here close and see if they have these screws, the one is a boneyard I can't guarentee anything because the biggest problem I run into is the guy at West 60 will chuckle and say ya be nice if I did have a bike like that for parts, but they last so darned long.... but I can try..

Thank you, I did speak with the seller on Amazon that you linked to, he confirmed they indeed were not in stock. I am waiting on a return email from cycle parts verifying that he actually has them in stock. Ill check the 3rd link out though.

I would think that your tech is a little over zealous. Chances are that if you wait til the end of the month they will still be back ordered, and then somewhere down the line the decision will be made to use the old ones anyways. There is probably very little call for these, and so nobody needs the inventory.

Here is the screw out of a junk carb. I can see where if your screws look like this that the mechanic might want to replace them.

This one has definite rust pitting on the taper part where it seals.

BUT then If it were mine and I could not find replacements, I would probably just clean it up with some emery paper and stick it back in there.

Jeff, just put same answer on the Face Book thread you have. ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/21338336667/permalink/10155096786211668/?comment_id=10155097237941668&notif_t=group_comment_reply&notif_id=1491499268563510 )

Looks like Boats.net may have them.

Their phone# is 877.408.1587

And here is a direct link to the part,,, looks like they are in stock.

EDIT:

Chatted with Jeff on the FB page. Seems like anyone (online vendors) who don't have them in stock have to order directly from Yamaha. Thus Boats.net and others are drop shipping,,, and like Jeff said, Yamaha only has 2 in their warehouse.

Boats.net and Partzilla are the same business (Outdoor Network). For some reason they offer Yamaha motorcycle parts on their boat parts site. When you get parts the box they're shipped in have both names (and a couple others too).
