Has anyone on the site published a book or books

Our 17 year old son has a book that he wrote and wants to get it published. He has had a few people read it and they liked the book. He also has contacted 2 publishers and one wants a lot of money up front and the other will publish the book they are a new and there is no up front money.

This is something that I know nothing about I have been doing some reading about publishing and ways of doing it. I would like to see him get good advice he has worked very hard to get to this point and I would hate to see him get taken advantage of. He said that he isn't out to make a lot of money that he enjoys writing and its not about the money.

I never have and don't know anything about it but googled online publishing and got this:
