cwhite123174 Posted March 23, 2017 #1 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) How many of you have a windshield bag on your bike? I would really like to have a bit more room for easy access storage when I do my bigger rides. That's the best thing I could come up with. What do you use? Do you like it? Any input is appreciated! videoarizona Posted March 23, 2017 #2 Posted March 23, 2017 I don't have one on any of my scoots as they take away from my close in vision. Suggest you ask @Freebird to move this post to either the 1st Gen or 2nd gen area... Spending upon which one you have. Probably gets a lot of responses there...
Freebird Posted March 23, 2017 #3 Posted March 23, 2017 Looks like he rides an '04. Moved this to the second gen tech talk area.
cwhite123174 Posted March 23, 2017 Author #4 Posted March 23, 2017 Sorry Don... I knew I posted it in the wrong section after I had already clicked submit. My bad! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
Freebird Posted March 23, 2017 #5 Posted March 23, 2017 No problem. Most of us have done it at one time or another. I don't have a windshield bag on my '05 nor on any others that I've owned. I would like to have one but I like the vented shields and they don't work well with the bags. J&M makes one that many here have used. It's for a Harley but I don't remember which one. I'm sure that somebody will chime in.
cwhite123174 Posted March 23, 2017 Author #6 Posted March 23, 2017 As Arizona said, they do obstruct vision and that may be my deal breaker. I bought a dash camera for my travels east this year and with my phone being my GPS and music player, I find myself reaching down and looking in my pouch more often that I probably should. I have yet to find a decent cell phone holder. My phone is big. It's my company phone as well as my personal phone so unfortunately it's my only option. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
Karaboo Posted March 23, 2017 #7 Posted March 23, 2017 Try a RAM mount. They have several options for bikes. Some with waterproof covers and some without. I am going to be looking for one of them myself.
SilvrT Posted March 23, 2017 #8 Posted March 23, 2017 I had a bag on my bike once .... she didn't last long though
cwhite123174 Posted March 23, 2017 Author #9 Posted March 23, 2017 I had a bag on my bike once .... she didn't last long though [emoji23] Because you didn't like it? Or just because... Lol! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
snyper316 Posted March 23, 2017 #10 Posted March 23, 2017 I got a RAM mount two weeks ago and I love it... It opens up pretty wide and I have been on some pretty bumpy roads recently and does not seem to phase it any.. it also comes with a safety band to secure what is ever in the mount. Really nice ran me I think $50-$60.
cwhite123174 Posted March 23, 2017 Author #11 Posted March 23, 2017 I have heard quite a bit about the Ram Mounts. Looks good on yours. Might just be the way to go to get my phone/gps/mp3 player more visible. 👍 Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk

cwhite123174 Posted March 23, 2017 Author #13 Posted March 23, 2017 Yeah.. I know the possibilities are endless but with that comes ALOT of junk. I was curious what is out there and who has experiences. Ram Mount may be the way to go rather than a windshield bag. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
snyper316 Posted March 24, 2017 #14 Posted March 24, 2017 Just buy yourself a pouch to store all your ram gadgets...
cwhite123174 Posted March 24, 2017 Author #15 Posted March 24, 2017 I have a pouch. That's the concern. It sits on the tank. I was looking for an alternative, such as the Ram Mount. I was looking for suggestions as if a mount or a windshield bag is better so I am not looking down so much... More straight forward. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
djh3 Posted March 24, 2017 #16 Posted March 24, 2017 I have GPS on right side of bars and phone on the RAM X mount on left. They are up just about vision level so I dont look down. I had a windshield bag on my Vulcan when it had just a windshield. With the bat wing fairings I just am not tall enough to see over them well. I look on RAM mounts site, find what looks to be what I want and get a part number. then I go shop E-bay or amazon. I have bought parts and pieces separately off e-bay cheaper at times than a "kit" off the same place. My Victory is set up about the same. I just looked and RAM makes different sized X mounts now. Have one listed for "large" phone. Thousands of miles using mine and it has never moved. I wired in a phone charger under the fairing to a key on power source and ran the cord up to the phone to charge so using pandora or nav dont kill the battery.
cwhite123174 Posted March 24, 2017 Author #17 Posted March 24, 2017 Nice! I understand what your saying about the bag. It has kinda been my concern as well... Visibility from all angles including above. I think the Ram Mount will be my best bet. With your setup it seems to be up, visible and easily accessible. Thanks for the pictures! This is the one I use. I keep my garage door opener in one, My Phone and the plug to charge and also the blue tooth adapter so I can listen to music from my phone https://www.leatherup.com/p/Motorcycle-Windshield-Bags/Tourmaster-Coaster-SL-Windshield-Bag/408091.html
cwhite123174 Posted March 24, 2017 Author #19 Posted March 24, 2017 Rick, do you have any problems seeing over it? I am 5'9 and when I sit in my "usual" saddle position, I look just below the top of the windshield and I have a 13" windshield. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
snyper316 Posted March 24, 2017 #20 Posted March 24, 2017 Now since we are talking about bags and pouches, I have seen a few bags or pouches mounted on the right and left fairing on the first gens, I kind of like those is it still possible to get those, would come in handy I would think. Now if I could figure out how to switch playlist without using my hands would be cool.
cwhite123174 Posted March 24, 2017 Author #21 Posted March 24, 2017 Lol! I hear that loud and clear. We all know that there are songs that hit the mood in the riding area your at AND songs that just don't do it for ya! Happens to me often! 😉 Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
