zoomjay Posted March 12, 2017 #1 Posted March 12, 2017 I am working to try to get this Venture back on the road. While I have the carbs apart is there a simple way to measure float height - like relative to an internal part of the carb? Part of me hates to try to "jam a clear piece of tubing into the drain plug" approach although will do that if I need to. Advice and/or pictures are welcome. Thanks

Thanks Here is a great link for just that purpose. Dry set on the bench, It's for Vmax but same procedure and spec for the Venture. Aside from jetting and maybe 1mm it's the same carb setup. http://www.factorypro.com/Prod_Pages/prody11.html Lots of guys like to wet check/set the levels after this but it sounds like you found that info already. Honestly I dry set mine and it rocks. Float level is critical for CV carbs though. While the carbs are apart it might not be a bad time to check jet block plugs for snugness and lay an eyeball on the emulsion tubes to check for any wear there. Also info on that with the above link. Good luck with getting her on the road!
cowpuc Posted March 13, 2017 #3 Posted March 13, 2017 Yep,, just make sure the float tang isnt compressing the needle plunger when ya measure em out...
