Doug royal86 Posted March 3, 2017 #1 Posted March 3, 2017 I am to the point of not using craigslist anymore. You try to sale or buy and all it is is scammers. I put my bike on craigslist for sale. I get 4 emails that they want the bike. So they give me a number I look it up and reply with their address full name and age and they quit responding. The last one was from CA. I know they don't want an old bike sent that far. It just gets to the point I don't even want to buy of sale. So beware on the scammers
WildBill1 Posted March 4, 2017 #2 Posted March 4, 2017 Craig list sucks alright I have a bike on there and all I get is all mouth and no show. When this ad ends l'm going with a consignment dealer.
Hummingbird Posted March 4, 2017 #3 Posted March 4, 2017 I buy and sell a lot of different things on CL and I find it's pretty easy to spot a scammer usually with their grammar.
Flyinfool Posted March 4, 2017 #4 Posted March 4, 2017 I have been having great luck putting this line in the ad along with the contact info; "Scammers don't bother, I know all your tricks" The scammers have to actually look at and read the add to get my contact info so they will always see it. It is rare that they waste their time on me, and as mentioned, they are really easy to spot. If they are dumb enough to still contact me I will make an effort to waste as much of their time as possible, That is time they can not spend scamming someone that does not know better.
Hummingbird Posted March 4, 2017 #5 Posted March 4, 2017 Jeff, I do the same thing with them - at one time I had one going back and forth telling them my bank wanted $15 to cash the check they already sent me and that I didn't have it. We were at it for 3 weeks til I finally told him to get lost.
N3FOL Posted March 11, 2017 #6 Posted March 11, 2017 I've heard several bad deals happen via Craigslist. I've never done any postings or inquiry on that website. Scammers are all over. Be smart and be careful.
slowrollwv Posted March 11, 2017 #7 Posted March 11, 2017 Yeah they tried to scam my son when he wanted to sell his Suzuki 500. I told him it sounded like a scam so he canceled the add. He put it back up w couple weeks later but for local pick up only. Meet the buyer in a Lowe's parking lot with the ATV on his truck and made the deal for cash. The guy that bought it drove in from OH. to buy it.
WildBill1 Posted March 11, 2017 #8 Posted March 11, 2017 I got so many texts and no shows that I revised my ad too read absolutely no texts call only. A lot less time dealing with low life scammers.
ragtop69gs Posted March 11, 2017 #9 Posted March 11, 2017 If they want to wire money, tell them the only payment you'll accept is a wal-mart money transfer or USPS, that right away shuts down the scammers contact. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
