Condor Posted February 15, 2017 #1 Posted February 15, 2017 So last year I picked up one of those 10x20 Carson garage/canopies to keep the scoots out of the weather. The thing lasted about 6 months before coming apart in a couple of windy storms last fall. A total waste of money. So the 2ndGens ended up out in the elements... although covered... for the last 3-4 months. I finally couldn't stand it anymore and went out and picked up a new one.... It's a Shelterlogic and ran right at $600 bucks with shipping to my local Home Depot.. There were others in the 1200-1300 hundred range that were built like tanks. There was one I really liked for $600, but the shipping ran more that the price of the thing. So here are a few pics of the 'girls' snuggled into their new home. :-)
SilvrT Posted February 15, 2017 #2 Posted February 15, 2017 cool ... I had one of those (a smaller one, not the same brand I don't believe) to park my Honda 1300 and my son's 1200 Sporty in a few years ago. Got it at Canadian Tire for just under $300. Seemed to hold up pretty good for a couple years. Then we moved, sold the Honda and my son took his bike elsewhere and I sold the shelter.

The canopies you buy in Canada are built stouter than those south of the boarder for obvious reasons. I bought a King Canopy about 15 years ago from Sam's Club for $200. the sides are gone, but it's still going strong... I thought the Carson would be the same.. Not so..
Marcarl Posted February 16, 2017 #5 Posted February 16, 2017 Looks nice and I'll bet the girls are happy about it. One observation though, shouldn't the tarp be stretched tighter. A loose tarp tends to flap a lot and then come apart as well as catch more wind. A tight tarp will shed the wind easier and not flap. Just my thoughts.
BuckShot Posted February 16, 2017 #6 Posted February 16, 2017 Looks great.....anytime you can get the bikes inside, its a good thing.

The wrinkles will come out after a few days of handing. Right now we just wanted to get it up...we're supposed to have another front rolling in tomorrow. djh3 Posted February 16, 2017 #8 Posted February 16, 2017 A couple years back bought my son and his wife one of those 10x20 garage cover things. We tied it down with 1/4" steel cable to wood privacy fence on one side and screw in tie downs on the other side. Shortly after we put it up we got some heavy rains and had to do some work on the tarp cover. Then was good for maybe year and half. Then we had some strong storms come thru and he much have got like a micro burst or something at his house. My daughter in law texted me and sent a picture. The wind had got under it and lifted the one side and flipped it over the fence. It was one huge pretzel. No more cover. Long term if I needed something to store stuff in, I'd be saving up for one of them storage sheds from Home Depot, They can get pricey.
