Alsbar Posted January 2, 2017 #1 Posted January 2, 2017 My wonderful girlfriend gave me this light for Christmas: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01DP9EQQG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2Q2U5SHGOEVPT&coliid=I1T1C9J2F4N14I&psc=1 When I took my light apart, I found that it was a bit small for the stock trim ring. So I ordered this part: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B017B8NL2M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I ended up just using the trim ring, which I put on the light, then put the stock one on top of it. Lined everything up and put it back together. Fit like a glove! Alsbar Posted January 3, 2017 Author #3 Posted January 3, 2017 So.... How does it work?? It was WAY high, but after adjustment it is a huge improvement over stock. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Kretz Posted January 4, 2017 #4 Posted January 4, 2017 Hey Alsbar thanks for the post... So if I understand correctly you only used the chrome part of the two piece "ring mounting bracket?" the flat part (in the Amazon pic) isn't needed? I've also seen a similar HD sealed LED light unit on flea bay I'm thinking of doing something similar on my RSTD....Thanks BTW what's that fancy looking screen you have? Looks like there's adjustable ventilation built in?
Alsbar Posted January 4, 2017 Author #5 Posted January 4, 2017 You are correct. The only thing I used was the trim ring from that kit. I just lined it up so it wasn't in the way of the stock stuff, and bolted it together. The headlight plugged right in to the stock harness. The windscreen is from Clearview. I really like the quality of the screen. It doesn't quite line up with the factory chrome, but it isn't a problem. I tried a few times to speak to them about it, but I couldn't get a return call. videoarizona Posted January 7, 2017 #6 Posted January 7, 2017 Next question: Will this fit an RSV headlight as well?
Alsbar Posted January 7, 2017 Author #7 Posted January 7, 2017 That, I cannot answer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
BratmanXj Posted January 9, 2017 #8 Posted January 9, 2017 Next question: Will this fit an RSV headlight as well? I've seen some write-ups on here that the RSV headlight is part of the mounting bracket, in order to mount a new lens and/or housing you have to do some cutting to the factory bucket. I've been keeping an eye out on CL or eBay for a busted glass lens so I can keep my original when I do get around to modifying mine.
JaseSerre Posted January 30, 2017 #9 Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) Hi everyone...i am a new user here. Alsbar Posted January 31, 2017 Author #10 Posted January 31, 2017 You are correct. The ring fits inside the OEM ring for a perfect fit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Jcgfree Posted March 28, 2017 #11 Posted March 28, 2017 I like the way that headlight looks Alsbar. I bought this one from the Yamaha Dealer here. It was an easy install. You find the right adapter holder that comes with the kit and slide it in. The rubber boot from the stock bulb won't fit back on though. A little worried about that but it has worked fine. A big difference from the stock light. It was a little over $100.

Jcgfree Posted April 2, 2017 #13 Posted April 2, 2017 Jeff, the bulb you pictured works well in high and low beam in your RSV? Any downside? David Yes David, both high and low beam work fine. I can't think of any downside except maybe the price. I didn't look around and price anything else since this was shown to me at the Yamaha Dealer. I didn't worry about it fitting like I would of trying to order one on the internet. Rode to Naples Florida and back to Houston putting 3200 miles with it and no problem. It was nice being able to see at night.
