Well I guess I'm not the only one who has had trouble recently shipping a gun. I shipped this model 11 Remington 20 gauge to my cousin in Arizona about six weeks ago. It was his dad's who was killed in a car accident. This is how it arrived....

 

 

Their response... Insufficient packaging... Denied!

 

So far they have ponied up seven hundred and change for a new barrel and other repairs to the stock.

 

Seems like it's almost deliberate for damage like this to occur.

 

It took a certified letter to the CEO of UPS to honor my claim.

 

Wow!! What did they do... Lay it between two chairs and then have a 400 pound gorilla sit on it?? Insufficient packing my a$$. I was contacted by a claims investigator person who gathered up all the info and pics and submitted it to their claims dept for OK. They honored the claim. Then they wanted to talk to the FFL. I'll check this AM to see if they did or not.... I have 3 guns to pick up out of the 10 day this morning.

Looks like a great gun for shooting around corners.

The end of the box is clearly marked. Chances are if it was in a wooden frame it would of still been delibertly broken. I have received packages with tire tracks across it. They have a problem. Wheather it be union gripes, workload, work hours, whatever. I'm surprised they are still in business to be honest. If I need something to arrive unbroken I refuse to us UPS. Have had much better "luck" with USPS or FedX. I will and have canceled orders when I have found it will be shipped UPS and order from someone else that gives me shipping options.

 

With email and "online customer service" or unanswered/returned phone calls the handwritten penned letter is still mighter than the sword. I have written several letters sent certified mail to CEO's to resolve problems. It has worked every time :-)

I resolved my Glock .380 jamb problems. I returned it yesterday for a full refund no more Glock jambs or stove pipes for me.

Stock update. I got a call from the seller/shipper of the rifle and he sent a check from UPS to me this afternoon. Two weeks from delivery, and about a week and a half since the claim was filed. Gotta give UPS a thumbs up on this one.... Now I get to go shopping for another stock. USGunStock is about 30 miles north of me. Thinking about dropping in and poking around.... They have several stocks listed on eBay and they always seems to take the 'offer'... They also have one that's a gorgeous chunk of wood, but it came off a military Mauser with the double tapered barrel, and wouldn't look right with a single taper... And... they have $850 bucks on it. No way Jose'... I can't imagine who would use this grade of wood and not re-barrel it as well...??

Not a $850 stock in my book either. A stock of that price should not have blemishes that need to be filled. It is already been glass bedded to some other rifle so it will need a lot of work for a perfect fit. unless you get lucky.

That's my thinking too. Plus it was fitted to a two step taper military barrel. The blem repairs don't bother me that much. I see them in a lot of highly figured walnut, and if done properly can blend in. The thing that does scare me is the cracking repair in the grip area. The recoil of a 264 Win Mag might be more than it could handle....

Don't buy a Glock 42 .380 unless you like clearing jambs and stove pipes. Sending this piece of crap off again for the second time. Plan on sending to Mr Glock this time.

Almost makes you wonder... Huh?? I think the few days before Christmas are when the most carnage takes place and probably the reason it was handled so quickly. I bet the claims dept is swamped and doesn't have time to question claims in depth...??

I typically hit what I aim at and don't typically aim at trees. But, since it was raining and overcast I decided to let the 303 British Enfield with open site go for a walk instead. Didn't get a chance to aim it thou.

Me too.... Elephants, moose, buffalo... Never miss. Humming Birds are safe. I find it difficult to shoot around big trees, but I have wounded a few twigs and branches... :whistling:

If you have a big enough gun the trees will move out of the way.

it was raining and overcast again this morning and was thinking about sitting in the rain but didn't have to. Got off my hunting sofa in the man cave and there he was about 100 yards down by the barn. Grabbed Betty the 44 rem mag and shot from the back door through a 1' window and nailed a heart shot. It didn't leave much of a blood trail in the rain but was able to track it about 30 yards to where it fell just inside the woodline.

 

The neat thing was that I took my one year old untrained dog down there and he picked up the scent about where I first saw the deer standing followed the scent directly to the invisible blood trail then straight to the deer.

 

When he first saw the deer he freaked out because he had never seen a dead deer before. After he realized it was dead he was ok. Looks like he will make a good tracking dog. I may keep him after all.

 

Had son gut the deer, we took the deer to the processor and now I'm back on the sofa in my camo jammies in the man cave. Hunting don't get no better than this.

oh yea, I haven't missed a shot in 30 years that I can recall. For practice I shoot bumblebees on the wing with a bb gun.
