SilvrT Posted December 12, 2016 #1 Posted December 12, 2016 Yup! Sold the Roady today. :bawling: Been 20 years since last time I was without a ride. Will I ride again? Maybe ... but not in the forseeable future... unless I rent one. Still gonna hang around here and stir up trouble though.
Sailor Posted December 12, 2016 #3 Posted December 12, 2016 Thinking I am going to have to downsize the bike. Considering an offer on the hot rod. Time to re-group and thin the heard.
bongobobny Posted December 12, 2016 #4 Posted December 12, 2016 Silver T, this site would be rather empty without your usual wit!!!

I must be starting to feel the "withdrawals" .......can't stop looking at classifieds, eBay and Kijiji bike ads lately! Didn't you buy a new Tenure? Would you care to share your reasons for selling it?
The Tooch Posted December 14, 2016 #11 Posted December 14, 2016 Didn't you buy a new Tenure? Would you care to share your reasons for selling it? The Tenere was a great bike lots of power for a 1200 twin. April to October.....I put 18,473 KM on it. (11,478 miles.) Most I've ever done in one summer. I loaded it up with the stuff/options that I wanted, to make it mine ...... but .......somehow it just wasn't my style. Every time I was out riding with friends they were on cruiser type bikes and I always felt like they were just poke'n along. On the Tenere it was great for cruising but you got bored, you just wanted to go or take off Off-road'n. I missed my comfy couch of a curiser where I could just lean back stretch out and poke along, couldn't do that for long on the Tenere she just got bored and wanted to go! (I'm sure the guys at the Ontario Ventureriders rally thought I was nuts! Every time we where on a ride, I took off through a ditch or something.) The other thing is, I like chrome and there just isn't much on a Tenere, I'd clean it and polish it all up and there just wasn't the satisfaction of all that Bling. No problems at all everything worked as it should, did 3 oil/filter changes, had to change out the OME Bridgestone tires a little sooner than I would have expected. But they were a compromise on road/off-road tire and I was using them at the time strictly on road, with the bike heavily loaded. The high heat and pavement of Deathvalley just seemed to do them in, the tread and of course the bikes handling went away fast. A new set of Michelin's, mostly road tires and it was a new bike again. My only knock on the Tenere and it is the nature of the beast, it is a very high seat to get a leg up and over. I'm 6' 1" and I found it a tough go to get on even with the seat in the lowest position. I could just stand flatfooted on the ground once I was seated, which wasn't bad, but my knees complained about climbing on and off. (Getting old I guess! ) So wasn't in love with her, hadn't even given her a name......I knew we weren't meant for each other......time to move on.....rather than having all that cash just sitting stored away for the winter and paying Insurance on her. (They make us pay year round up here.) Take the hit now on selling a new/used bike, use the money elsewhere and maybe start shopping for something else in the spring, we'll see.
BlueSky Posted December 14, 2016 #12 Posted December 14, 2016 Well Tooch, thanks for the review. It always helps to get ride reviews of potential bikes. If you rode it more than any other in one season, that says something about it. Sounds like you might prefer a Gen II Venture!
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted December 15, 2016 #13 Posted December 15, 2016 @Sailor send me stats on the midnight if you are going to let go. I thinks it is an 05 isn't it.

I just wish Yamaha would come up with another new touring bike....3rd Gen. but not holding my breath! Might have to buy a Harley! .......

BlueSky Posted March 9, 2017 #20 Posted March 9, 2017 I like the color. I see a couple of dealers on craiglist in my area offering new 2014 deluxe models that are black. Cheapest dealer is about $12,6xx plus $350 shippng.
The Tooch Posted March 9, 2017 #21 Posted March 9, 2017 Yes the price is right on them now. When they came out Honda priced them to high. In Canada you can only get the deluxe model there is no standard and only 2 colour choices, Red or Blue.
