So evidently my beloved bike has two horns. One of these horns is conveniently located on the right side and is easy to change. Its easy location however means that it seldom works as its exposed to the weather. Also the wiring is a bit weak, delivering something under 12 volts occasionally. The other Horn is located somewhere in the depths of the left side of the bike, most like under the cowling, its nice cushy spot means that it always works HURRAY, but I've had baby birds FART louder than that horn.

So the time has come, before the SANTA parade on Sunday when I must address these pesky things. Any advice on easing the miscreant horn from the cowl? Should i tap into the horn system and get a relay and run a pair of horns somewhere else. I haven't bought horns yet as I've been messing with this part time for the past little while. As i said now i get serious!

The other horn is behind the lower left faring and relatively easy to get to. As for your replacement horn, it should be rewired if you are going with a louder horn, such as an air horn. You need to use a relay wired to the switch and heavier gauge wire from the battery to the horn. I rewired mine and went a Stebel. Simple task. Much louder now. The original relay went out and had to replace, so good idea to keep a spare handy.

Definitely use a relay. I added two Stebels on my Vulcan, wakes people up no bother. Run a wire direct from the battery or aux fuse box. I'd like a similar setup on my RSTD but it's difficult trying to find a suitable mounting position. Enjoy your Santa parade!

you can get the Wolo air horn at most auto parts stores and Harbor Freight. Member @CarbonOne sells a mounting bracket and wiring kit with relay. Simple install using his bracket to replace the right side horn.

My horn is is at least six years old and still works fine. I just leave the left factory horn in place. You can't hear it over the new air horn and it doesn't hurt anything to just leave it.

EZ enough to make a bracket and mount where the right side horn went. If you dont want to wire it up, I think its carbon one make a kit. I mounted my Stebel up front where the hidden horn is and just left the cover piece off.

Yup!! Use the existing horn wires to trigger a relay for the air horns, but leave the stock one in the cowling there as is just in case your air horns fail! Larry, Carbon_One makes a nice bracket and wiring harness setup for converting to the Wolo or Stebel (same OEM) as Vzuden already mentioned!

The wollo bad boy comes in a nice chromed plastic and fits very nicely in the stock location on the right side. You can just ignor that one up front left after the wollo up.

100% recommend you use Carbon One mount and wiring set up. It makes it so much easier than running your own wiring up and down.

I love mine.
