Switch Posted April 18, 2008 #1 Posted April 18, 2008 Checked my speedometer today with the GPS and with speedo needle right on 60, GPS read 59.4. Can't get much closer than that.
1sttenor Posted April 18, 2008 #2 Posted April 18, 2008 Do you have a speedohealer? Mine is 55 on GPS with 60 indicated.
BEER30 Posted April 18, 2008 #4 Posted April 18, 2008 Mine is about 5 mph off as well compared to the GPS . Which questions me about those whom calculate their MPG as I do . Obviously most RSV's odometers say we are going faster and further by stock speedo . When we stop and fuel up , some of us calculate our fuel mileage . Being we are reading more miles traveled by stock odometer compared to the GPS , our MPG is less if we calculate by mileage according to the GPS . So whom is really bragging about better performance ? :whistling: BEER30
az1103 Posted April 18, 2008 #5 Posted April 18, 2008 My speedometer is also about 5 to 7 Mph fast according to the Zumo. I don't think there is any way of recalibrating....Is there?
1sttenor Posted April 18, 2008 #6 Posted April 18, 2008 I don't have one on my 06, but the 99 had one when I bought it. The SpeedoHealer is an electronic device which will enable your bike's speedo and odometer to show realistic information. http://www.healtech-electronics.com/
V7Goose Posted April 18, 2008 #7 Posted April 18, 2008 If yours is close without any device to "fix" it, you are in the minority. I have checked both of my RSVs and at least 10 others against my GPS, and all are right at 10% high, meaning if it is indicating 77 MPH, actual speed is 70 MPH. Goose BTW - just because th speedo reads high, do NOT assume the Odometer is also high - my odometer is very close to accurate even tho my speedometer is 10% high.
Switch Posted April 18, 2008 Author #8 Posted April 18, 2008 I looked up the installation directions for '97 through 2008 on the speedohealer site as you listed but cannot see anything that resembles what is listed.
Midrsv Posted April 18, 2008 #9 Posted April 18, 2008 On both my 04 and 07 RSV the speedo and odometers were both off by 7% and corrected with a speedohealer. DT
Leland Posted April 18, 2008 #10 Posted April 18, 2008 On my '06 RSTD, the speedometer read 8.5% high. The SpeedoHealer corrected the speedometer error, but now my odometer reads 5% lower than the Zumo. I know the Zumo is accurate, because I use it daily in my service truck.
