tufftom4 Posted November 19, 2016 #1 Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) Sorry for the punctuation and grammar but I am hot rite now If anyone has seen my bike you know the time and money I have put into it to make it mine I know I will never get that back with that said I have about 5 grand in paint accessories and powder coating.I keep my vehicles well maintained but my bikes paint is about 5 years old so has some scratches and it is a 1991 Kawasaki Voyager with just over 50,000 miles so it is still young. I decided to sell it since I can no longer ride for long periods of time until I get the discs in my back fixed and that is not going to happen anytime soon. I posted it online on Craigslist for 2500$ with the trailer and so far the first 2 people that showed up were upset because there were some scratches in the paint they did not see in the pic's WHERE IN THE HELL CAN YOU GET A BIKE LIKE THIS WITH LOW MILES FOR 2500$ with a trailer. CMCOFFEY Posted November 19, 2016 #2 Posted November 19, 2016 I feel your pain, I am trying to sell my 2001 RSV ($4500) and my 1987 Suburban 2500 4X4 ($3500). I keep getting low ball offers and people wasting my time picking my vehicles apart.
MikeWa Posted November 19, 2016 #3 Posted November 19, 2016 Tom That is a very nice looking bike. It seems priced right to sell too. People often think that complaining about minutia will get the price lowered. It is an approach that seldom works. Often it makes the seller angry enough he doesn't want to sell to you at any price. So hang in there the right buyer will come around. Mike
Kretz Posted November 19, 2016 #4 Posted November 19, 2016 You know that old saying you can please all of the people some of the time, etc etc. The general public never cease to amaze me, we all like a deal & that to my mind is a deal! A 25 year old vehicle without a scratch doesn't exist & people need to get their heads out of their a$$es Hang in there it's a great bike, the right person will come along & hopefully your bike will go to an appreciative home. Try to have a good day despite the dickheads.
ddoggma Posted November 19, 2016 #5 Posted November 19, 2016 That bike and rig, are super sweet bro. Thats a 3500-4000 dollar rig right here. Now I'm pissed off too.

MiCarl Posted November 19, 2016 #7 Posted November 19, 2016 That bike and rig, are super sweet bro. Thats a 3500-4000 dollar rig right here. Now I'm pissed off too. I agree. I wonder if the asking price isn't too low. At a higher price you'd probably attract a better quality buyer. I learned something from my ex-wife when we had a garage sale. At the end of the first day very little had sold. She said: "Our prices are too low, people think it's junk" and proceeded to double the prices. The 2nd day was like locusts.
CMCOFFEY Posted November 20, 2016 #8 Posted November 20, 2016 Hey I shouldn't ask but is the got 3rd row in it? It does. I agree, that is a very nice bike and better trailer than mine. I think you are asking too little for it.
snyper316 Posted November 20, 2016 #9 Posted November 20, 2016 Macarl hit a nail on the head about his ex-wife. I put a couple things online including my bike. Funny thing I put up the price according to nada 3500 no calls for a month actually forgot I had it posted. A guy calls and wanted to come check it out. At that point tho I had changed my mind about selling but he wanted to come look. He showed up with 3000 in hand. I just couldn't, part with her. My Jimmy started out at 3000 I ended up selling it for 800 because the trani stopped shifting acting like it was stuck in 3rd. I had reverse but the forward was sluggish. It wasn't acting up or anything it just did it. I had drove it 3 hours earlier and it was fine. Living life one curve after the other. Vroom scooting, thru the countryside.
mraf Posted November 20, 2016 #10 Posted November 20, 2016 Nice looking rig. $2,500 sounds like a steal to me. Hang in there someone will snag it and be bragging before long. What is the 3rd row? {another seat} If you need a laugh catch that new commercial with the Raccons on it eating garbage and talking. Its a hoot. Hang in there.
WildBill1 Posted November 20, 2016 #11 Posted November 20, 2016 I've tried many times too sell on Craig's List with no luck. Have more success selling thru local newpaper ads. Costs a little but worth it.

Yep and I would definitely be looking at suburban with 3rd row and 4x4 to boot I know my truck is 2002 but I paid 4500 for it. It was the only one in good shape and priced cheap. CaseyJ955 Posted November 20, 2016 #13 Posted November 20, 2016 I do a fair amount of buying and selling over CL. I tried to sell my modified 88 Samurai and got a lot of lowball offers and trade offers for projects, I still have it. I sold several cars pretty quickly though. I just deflect that part of the game where people want to call and try to negotiate a price before they have even seen the item, lowball or try to trade junk. I found that the best way to combat the douchebaggery that goes with CL is to choose words carefully and give a fairly detailed description in the ad along with a few good pics. It's hit/miss but I still do it. I think $2500 for the Voyager + trailer is a fantastic deal, no matter how cheap you make it there is always someone that will lowball. I would keep that ad up, my guess is someone is going to jump on it, sometimes it just takes a little time for the right buyer to see it, and you may have to wade through some flakes before that happens. It's imperfect but locally here it's the best thing going and free is fine too.
sho_greg Posted November 20, 2016 #14 Posted November 20, 2016 Good looking bike... just out of curiosity what is the Kelly book value?? You may want to try to sell seperately?
Condor Posted November 20, 2016 #15 Posted November 20, 2016 It's the economy...and most of the early callers are flippers. They want to steal something and resell. Give it a couple of times running the ad. The last time I sold a bike on CL it was the third posting, and the buyer was tickled pink..... :-)
Sailor Posted November 20, 2016 #16 Posted November 20, 2016 That is one heck of a bargain. Jack the price up by $2000.00. That will get rid of the flippers and when they complain about the paint you can knock $500-$1000 off the price and make them happy.
saddlebum Posted November 20, 2016 #17 Posted November 20, 2016 Don't let it get to you. When I sold my pickup I advertised it for $3000.00 as is and I got calls offering as low as $200.00 providing it passed a safety inspection and included the cap. I think some either just throw in a wild card to see what they can get or they just think its a big joke to try and belittle the object for sale. The latter usually brag about their antics over a dozen beers with their buddy's like they just pulled off an original prank and try to get a big laugh out of it. Ultimately you do get calls by serous buyers with more than 2 cents between their ears and before you know it with tears in your eyes your saying goodbye to an old friend.
djh3 Posted November 21, 2016 #18 Posted November 21, 2016 To many of these "flip" type shows around provoke idiots into ideas of large cash profits. Houses, cars bikes antique picking etc. A fellow like you or I appreciate a less than market price for what we know would be a decent vehicle. As mentioned there are folks just looking to buy rock bottom, maybe a paint job or some stickers and turn a profit of $1000 bucks by investing a couple hundred. Put your price on it. If someone meets it fine, if not is it costing you anything to keep it?
Dragonslayer Posted November 22, 2016 #19 Posted November 22, 2016 I agree. I wonder if the asking price isn't too low. At a higher price you'd probably attract a better quality buyer. I once had a boss who would raise the price on a piece of real estate that wasn't drawing traffic rather than lowering it. His philosphy Was that by raising the price your hitting a better quality of buyer. It always seemed to work.
