SilvrT Posted November 9, 2016 #1 Posted November 9, 2016 Next July I'll be retiring!! yaaayyyyyyy! Nina has already retired as of Sep 1st. Our plan is to sell the house, bike, much of our furniture and buy a big truck and a 5th wheel RV and travel USA and Canada for a couple years. So, I got started this past weekend by trading in our '05 Chev 1500 Silverado for an '03 F-350 "King Ranch" complete with the 5th wheel hitch, etc. V-10 POWER!!

It seems like that was their plan too.
slowrollwv Posted November 9, 2016 #3 Posted November 9, 2016 Congrats on the retirement and the new truck. I am getting ready to retire at the end of April also but I didn't get a fifth wheel camper. I got a ford powered motor home instead. Not a big one but enough room for four when we go hunting or fishing.
adventurer 08 Posted November 9, 2016 #4 Posted November 9, 2016 Way to go, I retired in July, we sold our Jeep and bought a 2012 F250 and a Toy Hauler. It is so nice not getting up at 4:20 any more, you will love being retired.
SilvrT Posted November 9, 2016 Author #5 Posted November 9, 2016 Congrats on the retirement and the new truck. I am getting ready to retire at the end of April also but I didn't get a fifth wheel camper. I got a ford powered motor home instead. Not a big one but enough room for four when we go hunting or fishing. We thought about a class A motorhome pulling a toad but getting some of those bigger motorhomes into some places just can't be done and try to back up with a toad in tow.... so we opted for the truck/5th wheel combo instead. Ya... so looking forward to this "adventure"! Which engine? V10 or 460 or?
BlueSky Posted November 9, 2016 #7 Posted November 9, 2016 Nice looking truck. It should serve you well. The V10s never got variable valve timing like the V8s and the problems that sometimes causes.
cowpuc Posted November 9, 2016 #8 Posted November 9, 2016 WOWZY WOW WOW WOW Silv - she's a beauty!! CONGRATS on the new ride and DOUBLE CONGRATS on the retirement that's right around the corner!! Hope you folks TOTALLY enjoy the new way of life!! :ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886:You_Rock_Emoticon: CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THE PICS AND FOLLOW YOUR ADVENTURES BROTHER Gonna do it myself next year and we been talking something similar. Only in our case, cause we are hard core tent campers, our move toward a more comfortable way to tour is gonna probably be an extended cab 4x4 with a topper so we can still camp in obscure places and get a little more distance between the older bones and the ground.. We have high hopes of back trackin on some of the two tracks in the mountains out west when we could go no farther 2 up on Tweeks to answer that common nagging question = what really was wayyyy up there beyond those mud holes in Colorado and out in the State of Washington
mraf Posted November 10, 2016 #9 Posted November 10, 2016 Sounds like you have it all figured out. Congrats. We have talked about doing the same thing. But both mothers are still at home so it leaves us stuck in the snow for now. Nice truck. Enjoy.

Kretz Posted November 10, 2016 #13 Posted November 10, 2016 Congrats on retirement Just make sure that 1. You don't spend too much time out of the country (or you might lose your citizenship) 2. You don't spend too much time in the US or they'll be taxing your pension Enjoy your travels:beer:
