Gasoline just hit $3.70 a gallon for regular. I paid $120 to fill up the pickup. It now cost $20 to fill up the bike. Groceries are going up and this month our health care provider is re adjusting rates. Dig deeper and have a nice summer. Will Americans cut back on recreation??? NO.Now the good news it's 75 outside lets ride.

Welcome to summer in Newfoundland, Canada... Gas just hit $5.81 a gallon, that's $25+ to fill up the bike.... groceries, well, the line at the KD shelf just gets longer, but at least most of the health care is free!

On the plus side, temperatures hit 15C today, and the snow is more than half melted, at least in town. I got a ride in last week, before the weekend snow, and I hope to get out again tomorrow!:cool10::cool10:

Well actually Ive noticed, in my line of work, a LOT less traffic on the open road. Not saying that its less in cities and major traffic routes..people STILL have to commute...but on the less traveled roads, the ones not used by commuters, the ones use by recreational travelers, there is quite a bit less 'optional' traveling going on.

The recession and the gas prices are hurting the family weekend road trips, and the RV's have almost disappeared it seems.

All of this is GOOD for motorcycle riders. We dont have to put up with anywhere NEAR the congestion, SUV's and RV's out there. Truck tonnage is also down. SO...there IS a silver lining. Still...20 bucks to fill the tank on a bike seems friggin ridiculous!

I'm soooo glad the wife is retiring this summer! That will cut the gas bil in half. Wow, you pay just as much to fill your truck up as it costs me to fill two cages up every week!!

So, do people buy more sensible vehicles??? Nooo!! I still see a bunch of SUV's in the parking lot...

SUV's are mandatory where I live. Gas was $3.69 a gallon from Morgantown to Jane Lew yesterday. We have tried everything but where I live with the creek and iced up driveway in the winter. Both the wife and I drive 4x4 pickups. Ramona said gas was still $3.58 at Flatwoods yesterday but that will change soon.

So SUV's are insensible vehicles? What a pile of steaming hot BS. Who are you to dictate what is sensible to drive? What difference does it make what someone else drives? The price of gas is too high no matter what you drive. Even if I ride a bicycle all day the price of gas is too high.

Ooooppsss...Somebody hit a nerve...hey, this site is full of over 4000 people who ride 'insensible' motorcycles!!!

I mean, cmon, there are probably at least 5 billion people on this planet who would consider a big, heavy, dangerous, expensive, and not terribly fuel efficient MOTORCYCLE...as not very 'sensible'....

I dont have anything against SUV's per se, altho I do see too many large ones being driven by arrogant drivers who think that they can bully and tailgate us riders...now THAT pisses me off!! So my comment about LESS SUV's on the road, well actually, less cages of ANY type on the road, as far as a biker is concerned, is a good thing...less chances of getting hurt!

But anyone who rides an 'insensible' motorcycle, cant be a fair judge of an SUV being insensible.

And hey, they just found 33 billion more barrels of crude somewhere near Brazil!

We gots more oil!

Yep....gas keeps going up and up... so does taxes, so does food, so does entertainment, so what's new? We gotta eat, we gotta pay taxes, we gotta be entertained (lol), and we're gonna drive our vehicles... so pay the price and stop gripin!
