TEW47 Posted January 24, 2007 #1 Posted January 24, 2007 The driving light on the right side is very lose and I cannot tighen it up. Feel like the threads are stripped. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem beside geting a new one. 1997 RSTD. Hate the driving light design. Gene Weir
dray Posted January 24, 2007 #2 Posted January 24, 2007 take it off and have it threaded to the next size
RoadKill Posted January 24, 2007 #3 Posted January 24, 2007 Have you taken the bulb/lens off and tightened from the inside. As I remember you have to in order to get tight. If it is in fact stripped, since its a Yamaha accessory, I would try warranty also. I know my dealer would probably make it right for me.
TEW47 Posted January 25, 2007 Author #4 Posted January 25, 2007 Took lamp out and there was nothing to tightenup. So far the epoxe glue is holding it in place. Have a 150mile ride Sat.,I will know then if it worked.
Gary N. Posted January 26, 2007 #5 Posted January 26, 2007 When I adjusted my driving lights I had to use an allen wrench on the inside of the light, in the stud where the wires come through. I ground one side of the allen wrench away so there was clearance for the wires. The light needs to be snugged up just enough to adjust the light then fully tightened once the light is adjusted. All the allen wrench is for is to keep the stud from turning while you tighten the nut with a wrench. I'm guessing that the stud on yours is spinning in the light. Without holding it on the inside with an allen wrench you'll never get it tight.
TEW47 Posted January 28, 2007 Author #6 Posted January 28, 2007 Rode 150 miles Saturday and driving light is holding tight and the epoxy glue is is clear so you don't know its there. Seems tighter than the left side. Gene Weir:thumbsup2:
