Suzi cavalcade vs venture.

I just happened to "find" my '84 venture right about when I got old enough to care about dressers.. Yes, I knew about the vmax v4 so the venture at a steal was interesting (runs great now and I love it). So I don't know anything about the Suzi counterpart.. Any comments on how it compares?? Gary, did you run the comparison with that bike and the two model Venture?

They are close but both the VR and the RSV out perform the Suzuki....

The Calvacade is boxier or squarer then the Venture not as sporty looking. The motor and trans are pretty much bullet-proof, there is an issue with the secondary gearbox that needs to be addressed, its called a tracy plug and is a pretty simple fix. I have owned an 85 Suzuki Madura since new, its the calvalcades little brother V4 1200 basically same motor and trans. They have hyd valve adjusters so no need to ever get into the motor. Very well built bikes, just a matter if you like the looks or not. If you get it there is a forum similar to this one with guys that know them inside and out.

When i was ready to buy my bike (sales bonus pay burning a hole in my pocket), I originally had my heart set on a Wing. After a couple of months of browsing it came down to a Cavalcade or a Venture Royale. Both sitting side by side at a dealership. I liked the look of both but there was something about the Venture that made the difference. I took her out for a test drive and that was it. She rode really nice. Sitting high in the saddle was a bonus. I could see over some cars which I considered a safety thing. She just looked sportier too. I thought that sporty look on a touring bike was sexy. That was 12 yrs ago and I never regretted that decision.

Besides, look at all these great misfits I have had the pleasure to meet and chat with here. I couldn't imagine missing this.

I have had a couple Suzuki's, last one was like an 86 or something GS 1100 that I added all the bags etc to make it a touring bike. Was a good running scoot. So reliability wise I would think it is a thought out bike. One of my questions would be how many years did they make it? So how is the knowledge base and spare parts? From the pic it looks like a GW aspencade.
