Last week I installed Baron's 4-2-4 slip-ons on my 2006 Midnight Venture. Also put in new plugs; plugged the AIS lines and the inlet to the AIS pump; re-synched the carbs;and put in new air filters and a new fuel filter.

The bike is now popping/backfiring during throttle up/throttle down and even when holding the throttle steady at 60 mph.

Have I missed something? Can anyone help/advise with this annoying situation?

We just re-plugged the AIS lines good and tight. Carb synch check is coming up next.

I'll report back as soon as that's done.

In the meantime.....If anyone can offer further advice I would appreciate it.

Boomer,

Make sure that all your vaccume lines are in good shape on the intake manifolds. I had the same thing and it turned out to be the vaccume line that went down to the ais that I forgot to plug when I removed the AIS. Seeing your AIS is plugged now I would just install the little nipples on all the ports on the intake manifolds.

Final update.........

AIS re-plugged TIGHT......

Carb re-synch RIGHT ON THE MONEY.

Problem discovered: Fouled plug!! Figured out WHY this happened too.....LETTING THE BIKE SIT TOO LONG WHILE WARMING IT UP!!

Lesson learned: Hit the road within minutes of firing her up.

Note.....My sincere thanks to those who responded to my plea for help! I now have a completely different feel for this Forum and those who hang here.

Warmest regards to all.........Boomer:bighug:

On my RSV if I am working it like lots during the

winter months as I can not ride it for 4 months.

I always get fouled plugs from lots of idling , warming

the bike up , just after a while one or two plugs

will foul.. on my bike that is...

glad you got it figured out.

Glad to hear you got everything fixed on your bike, Boomer.

Are you going to make DC in May with CVMA?

Keech

Keech.....I sure am doing the Run To The Wall in May! I'm rolling with our CVMA State Rep "Mac" and we are supposed to hook up with riders from NH and Vermont near Fishkill NY.

PM me if you need full details.

Hope we can meet up somehow Bro!
