Jdafixa Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 My 01 is losing about 2 drops of gear oil overnight after a 40 ish mile ride. I'm planning on doing a ton of work on the bike when I park it for the winter. My question is will I be ok to ride as long as I'm closely monitoring the oil level, or is this a sign of something I need to address more urgently?

djh3 Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Only like 3 places it can leak. 1-the seal for the drain plug 2-the inboard axle seal where it has the gear for the drive hub 3-on the driveshaft yoke side. My first place to suspect is the drain plug seal. Is there evidence of a leak close to the wheel by the diff? Then might be the drive seal. IF its the yoke seal I think it would be dripping forward of the diff by the motor.
