stanG Posted October 6, 2016 #1 Posted October 6, 2016 Working on a friend's 89 and did the battery bypass with the resistor as I did years ago on my 83 (worked great on my 83). Battery icon and red flashing light are still active. Am I missing something here? I tried several values of resistor from 1k to 22k ohms. Is there a way to deactivate this right on the circuit board? I found this bike with the sensor already removed from the end of the wire so I am thinking the PO probably tried to do something here, I'm just not sure what.
bongobobny Posted October 6, 2016 #2 Posted October 6, 2016 Well Stan, a couple of possibilities. You could try the resistor mod at the CMU end of the White/red wire, eliminating possibility of there being an open on that line. Second, remove the CMU and resolder the edge connector as there may be a bad (open) solder connection there. Third, maybe the PO tied the W/R wire directly to 12 volts and blew out the monitor input for that...
