Jdafixa Posted October 5, 2016 #1 Posted October 5, 2016 got my 01 venture from a big dude. 300 lbs. He had about 80 psi in the rear shock so i lowered pressure to 35psi. Now she bounces. Bad shock?
bongobobny Posted October 5, 2016 #2 Posted October 5, 2016 Not necessarily. I would try closer to 45 to 60 psi. 35 psi is too little IMHO...
Freebird Posted October 5, 2016 #3 Posted October 5, 2016 Bob may be right but 80 PSI far exceeds the maximum pressure for the shock. I think they are rated at 57 PSI max. It may well be damaged.
Pic Posted October 5, 2016 #4 Posted October 5, 2016 Probably bad shock. When mine lost the oil it would do that. Replaced with a Hagon Shock

Yammer Dan Posted October 6, 2016 #6 Posted October 6, 2016 Hey I'll back Bob up here. Try it at lower pressures and see what it does. Stranger things have happened!! I would try it about 40-50 and see what happens. But more than likely went it to that Great Shockyard in the Sky..... I need Sleep!!! GOOD LUCK!!
Rafterd Posted October 12, 2016 #7 Posted October 12, 2016 Shock was probably already out is why it had too much air in it. To keep it from bouncing. maybe??
Lug Nut Posted October 13, 2016 #8 Posted October 13, 2016 I was adjusting sir pressure front and rear. I am 240 lbs and found that 10 lbs in rear and 5 psi in fronts works great for handling and ride quality for me....not bouncy at all. More comfortable than when the rear was atb30-40 psi.

dave_wells Posted October 17, 2016 #10 Posted October 17, 2016 At 300 lbs I would run 45 psi in the shock 50 psi with 2 up pulling the trailer. As freebird said these are rated for so much psi . The Dealer told me 60 any more can damage to shock Look at the base of the shock to see if there is any oil. That would tell ya the shock has failed Last year when my shock finally failed. It went from a wavy bottom out feeling to like riding a Pogo stick When the shock on my RSTD failed . pushing down on the rear of the it had a slow return Hope that helps ya. I went with a Hagon shock . The install is easy .Don't follow the direction in the Venture repair manual. There is a write up on here someplace with the easy way, Very easy
