I thought the 83-85 venture carbs same and same jet kit.. Then the 86 1300 & Vmax had bigger carb bore & jets.. Someone check me.

Everything will fit except float needle and the brass housing for the needle, you're 83 float needle should be all metal even the taper part, 84 on has the rubber type taper that is how you know the difference.

 

That was my finding from a few years back.

Does that change anything in the rebuild kit. I'd think not as only the No.2 carb has the sensor port.

 

Since I have no idea what's in the rebuild kit I'll let someone else field that question...

Everything in the rebuild kit is the same except for the needle valve and seat. It can be used but you have to replace both halves of the "needle valve and seat" The seat is replaced by removing the plug on the outside top of the carb body. If you replace it you should also replace the filter screen in there also.
