saddlebum Posted September 28, 2016 #26 Posted September 28, 2016 (edited) I have a TomTom Rider and it comes with Tyre which is the trip planning software. Both work extremely well together and there is a lifetime 2xper year free update on the maps. Designed for motorcycle use. Love it! Which model of the tom tom rider are you using. I had the rider II and loved it until it quit. the only issue I had was screen visibility on sunny days but I am led to believe they solved that issue with their newest model. I currently use the Zumo 660 which has great daylight visibility but I find searching points of interest and some addresses not as quick or effective as my old Tom Tom was, many times responding with cannot be found. I have also found an app called HERE which seems to work very well w/voice directions and it even will give inside mall directions to stores etc.. It is a free download. Plus it does not require data to function so if you loose phone signal it will continue to guide you VIA satellite signal just like a regular GPS. With regards to water on the screen try going to some of the outdoor stores and check out various hard cases I have a clear one that works great. only downside is phone has to be removed to operate unless you turn on hands free mode and either blue tooth or plug in a hands free wire. saddlebum Posted September 28, 2016 #27 Posted September 28, 2016 I like Furkot for trip planning. When I get it right I download a gpx file and copy it to the gps. www.furkot.com DennisJust took a look at it and played a bit. Seems pretty cool
uechi kid Posted October 2, 2016 #28 Posted October 2, 2016 I know you said you don't want to spent the money on a good gps, but the Garmin 660 and the HD Ride Planner website have been invaluable over the years. It might be something to consider.
AKRefugee Posted October 10, 2016 #29 Posted October 10, 2016 I use Google Maps. Plan route on my computer then send it to my phone as a text message. When I need it just open up the text message and it displays on my phone what I planned on the computer. You will need a Google account which is free. Just set up a whatever account in gmail and use that for your signin set up.
uechi kid Posted November 13, 2016 #30 Posted November 13, 2016 I have been using Harley ride planner for several years with no issues and all of a sudden it doesn't see my GPS. My computer sees the GPS. Anyone else experience this?
