Trader Posted September 23, 2016 #1 Posted September 23, 2016 My wife's IPad screen locked up. I tried to shut it down but after holding the power button for a few seconds couldn't even "slide" the on screen button to power off. I read that I could re-set the IPad by holding the power button and the main "home" button for 10 seconds. I figured this was a factory reset and I would loose everything but I didn't loose anything. Just thought it would be good to know.
M61A1MECH Posted September 23, 2016 #2 Posted September 23, 2016 I wonder if that works for IPhones as well?
bongobobny Posted September 23, 2016 #3 Posted September 23, 2016 Had my Android (Samsung Galaxy) phone recently lock up but pulling the battery fixed it...
TDbiker Posted September 23, 2016 #4 Posted September 23, 2016 I wonder if that works for IPhones as well? Yes, it does.

vzuden Posted September 23, 2016 #6 Posted September 23, 2016 I have been using iphone and Ipad for several years now and frequently will "reboot" both with that process.
Midrsv Posted September 24, 2016 #7 Posted September 24, 2016 Speaking of Ipads and Iphones, have you updated to iOS 10 yet? If not you should. Some nice new features. Just got my Iphone 7 last week and updated my wife's 6s. Dennis
Freebird Posted September 24, 2016 #8 Posted September 24, 2016 Everything here is updated. Two 2 iPhone 6S updated to 10.0.2. iPad the same. MacBook Pro updated to Sierra which was also just released. I did buy my wife a new iPhone 7 yesterday. I'll probably get one later but the didn't have any of the 7 Pluses and I think I'm going that route this time. Not sure yet that I like the new home button but it's no big deal and I'm sure I'll get used to it. We elected to keep my wife's old 5 which is also updated to 10.0.2. . She streams Pandora pretty much all day and will now use it just on WiFi for that purpose. It is connected to a Bose speaker and sounds really good.
mirider Posted September 24, 2016 #9 Posted September 24, 2016 take the iphone to your carriers store, hand it to the employee, then in a clear voice ask for an android product (preferably samsung) Just make sure it's the model that doesn't catch on fire.
Venture n Dixie Posted September 24, 2016 #10 Posted September 24, 2016 She streams Pandora pretty much all day and will now use it just on WiFi for that purpose. Pandora has gotten so bad and clunky on my pee see,iPhone and kindle that I've switched to TuneIn and other services. How does the blackberry filter it? Just so this isn't a 100% hijack, I bet when my iPhone locks up I won't remember this hot key. Not like cntl alt delete that gets used so much I dream about in my sleep.
Freebird Posted September 24, 2016 #11 Posted September 24, 2016 Can't answer your question about the free Pandora being ad free. I haven't tried the free version in a long time. I do have an old Blackberry Bold that she has been using to stream Pandora but it was not the free version.

I have used Pandora for years and it has always had commercial s few months ago I started noticing ads. So I deleted it. Twist the handle and move!!!

It took me a couple of minutes to get used to it. I use the thumbprint for security when I hit the home button and it starts very quickly. Dennis

I run it on my PC because it's connected to my stereo system. My preference is classic rock but there is pretty much all the music anyone could want for free.
