Flyinfool Posted September 16, 2016 #1 Posted September 16, 2016 Does anyone know if the clutch cover from an 85 will fit onto my 88? The part numbers are similar the '85 is 26H-15431-01-00 and the '88 is 1NL-15341-00-00. I do not care about the markings or emblems, just the mechanical fit.
MiCarl Posted September 16, 2016 #2 Posted September 16, 2016 The 15431 in the second field just means "right crankcase cover". Doesn't even tell you as much as looking at pictures of the parts.

Flyinfool Posted September 16, 2016 Author #4 Posted September 16, 2016 A 1200 cover will not fit a 1300 motor. They are different overall width due to clutch spring differences. Gary If it is just for clearance of the clutch spring, then maybe I can make it work. Now I have to wonder, I was planning to cut the middle of it out to put in a window so a clutch spring clearance issue may go away. I have an early 85 disassembled engine sitting in the basement with a bad 2nd gear.
snyper316 Posted September 17, 2016 #5 Posted September 17, 2016 So if I ever have to replace the cover I guess mine would stick out more? Or would it be a larger circumfrance?
Condor Posted September 17, 2016 #6 Posted September 17, 2016 So if I ever have to replace the cover I guess mine would stick out more? Or would it be a larger circumfrance? The extra height of the MKII clutch covers isn't noticeable. The foot prints are the same, and take the oem fasteners. Personally I'd pick one up off eBay....
