Anybody know a site or know how to set a small engine carb that is out?? I would like to know the settings to start with . I have no trouble adjusting when it will run but I can start with the jump starter and get it to run fair but it will not start at all without jump starter( hooking drill to it to crank.) I can't crank these things like I used too. Hard to explain that one but Warden can crank them a lot better than I can. I need the starting settings on these things and which screw does what??

Most 4-stroke & 2-stroke "garden" equipment will start with 2-turns on each of the setting screws; Soft seat the needle and then 2 full turns of the screw out on both the Low & High speed.

yammer sounds like your working on a weed eater maybe a troybilt anyway the screws should be labeled (L) for low speed and(H) for high and the preset is normally 1 1/2 to 2 rounds. good luck

Didn't know that Woody. Thanks. Should help. I can get it to run fair when running just can't crank it up without jump starter. Drill will crank it pretty good and since last rib incident I can't pull it over 2 or 3 times til I have to sit and recoup. I'm thinking one of the rechargeable jump start things that you could carry with you would be a good investment. Hot or cold it just don't want to run unless you really crank it fast??

One question whats the spark plug look like? Sounds like the drill may all that is enough to create a spark they don't have a very strong one to begin with.

Had an old Lawn Boy 2 stroke mower that got the same way. I had to use a cordless drill to start. I think compression was down on it also. My current Crafstman weed whacker has been finicky too. Its the carb on it, dang crummy gas now with alcohol in it gums them up. I had to break of some "tamper" caps off the set screws. I started out seat screw in and about 2 out on both. Clean plug and tune it in.

It is obvious that the Warden is the one that should be using that tool from now on, and YOU should point that out to her.........:duck:

I guess I need to look at mine closer to see if there is room to get a drill to the engine. That sounds easier than pulling. Although once I tuned in the carb correctly it starts pretty easy. The factory "Tamper Proof" settings were way off on the lean side, it would have burned up pretty quick.

Why not just put the string on the drill? You'd be all done by the time you get the stupid thing running, and the Warden might get interested i your new tool, you know how they are!
