Vacation Time

Eileen and I are finally getting away as of sometime this morning for over a week of relaxation and fun. Not a motorcycle trip this time though. We are towing the Waverunners down to Arkansas. Have a hotel room reserved right on the lake with their own boat docks. My son from Texas is meeting us there for two or three of those days so we will get to spend some quality time with the granddaughters. Really looking forward to it. Will probably get back home a week from Sunday.

 

Now don't worry. I will have my laptop with me so that I can keep a watch on you trouble makers.

Now I wonder if that lop eared Birdy varmint knew about it, took advantage of the situation and flew the coup thinking the site was safe for a while = not a good move,,, my , :stirthepot: and cant even come close to the likes of @Flyinfool and his kind = you started the machine to clean out the Snoper didnt ya Jeff? Notice a great big dark cloud overhanging us all day - Waukee was dead center of it:big-grin-emoticon:...

Aaahhh. Beautiful lake about 40 minutes from my house. As a matter of fact, my sales territory goes all around lake Ouachita. Ouachita is right next to the city of Hot Springs, which has some crazy neat history of being Americas first Las Vegas type place way back in the 1920's-40's. Hot Springs had over 50 casinos before games of chance were outlawed. Now that city has Oaklawn Park, a 100 year old horse track/casino that is one of the most prestigious tracks in the nation. It's a shame you aren't taking your bike; that part of the state is dripping with great motorcycle roads. We ride out that way on a regular basis. Used to be a major baseball spring training area with a lot of the teams coming there. If you get a chance, go to down town Hot Springs and check out the bath houses, and go up in the tower that overlooks the city. Their is also the gangster museum there, due to the fact that it was a favorite entertainment hideout for the famous gangsters. A large area of Hot Springs is actually a National Park. The historic downtown area, and mountains that surround it. This weekend being Labor Day weekend, there will be a boat load of bikes in and around downtown Hot Springs.

 

If you guys are going to be there all next week, I'd like to catch up with you and meet you face to face. It'd be an honor to meet our fearless leader.

We'll be here until a week from tomorrow. This weekend is full though because my son will be here with the granddaughters. They are leaving on Monday. I've been to Hot Springs before and love it. Being from Texas, it was a short trip before we moved to Ohio. We just got checked into our hotel room. My son is supposed to be here around noon tomorrow and we'll put the Waverunners in and do some exploring. Never been on the lake here before.

I don't even know where I am. When I made the hotel reservation, I'm sure that it said Lake Quachita but I just looked and apparently we on on Lake Hamilton. They appear to be connected but with a dam in the way. We'll stay here and probably just run around on Lake Hamilton while my son and granddaughters are hear this weekend but will trailer up to Quachita during the week. Really want to explore that lake.

Yes, they are separated by a dam. Lol. And at the other end of Lake Hamilton, a dam separates it from Lake Catherine. 3 lakes in a row. Lake Hamilton is way smaller than Ouachita, but crazy busy with boat traffic on the weekends and holidays. While you're on Lake Hamilton, go grab a meal at Fishermans Wharf. I recommend the Pecan Encrusted Talapia/Coconut Shrimp combo plate. Be sure to get their special brocolli salad as side.
