Possible Scam

So I get this call on my phone from this guy..heavy accent.. sez he's from my webpage host and my Email has been compromised and blocked due to me sending out virus's, and check my computer... I tell him I have a active Virus and firewall program installed. So he tell's me that the email address is unblocked, and have a good day and hangs up. I think the guy was trying to sell a virus program and to get my vitals to pay for it. Checked in on my website control center and it's biz as usual. No notices... no nutting...

Jack it sounds like a scam to me, too. When my website was commandeered for spam My server/hosting service cleaned it out for me. I'm certain your hosting service wouldn't be contacting you to clean up their server.

Linda was on her computer (this one) looking at recipes and got a box popup saying she was blocked and to call a phone number. I immediately shut it down and did a restore to an earlier date, which was unsuccessful. After I restarted it, when I tried to pull up Firefox, I would get a box saying Could not install XPCOM. I ended up having to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it and it seems to be working OK.

This looked like another one of those ransom viruses.

Today I pulled an old touchscreen out and was cleaning it up. Anyways phone rings and the guy says sir I am calling you from Microsoft. I am calling you to let you know we have blocked your computeer. We have blocked it to prevent your computeer from infecting our server's. He then asked if I was at my computeer. I tell him 2 minutes before he called I just pulled it from a 8 month storage and was cleaning it. He then goes uh uh click.

You know I have noticed since this Windows 10 push, that I get more calls like that. Other times I get this pops up that Hijacks my computer.

If I decide to convert Big Red into a Hybrid I know where to obtain the alternate propulsion system.

 

I have pop set up also and have a few email addresses. They are helpful in monitoring traffic. I do keep the number of addresses to a minimum. I think I have unlimited web space and some ridiculous amount of bandwidth, but I really only use a dab of what I have.
