Then one did say that mother Yamaha has had a bike in r&d for some time and it is due to come out in September of this year.

Can y'all not READ??? :stickpoke: :rasberry:

Indian or Harley will be my next one. And neither one will be new. I am not taking that hit on the resale vs new price. Mother Yamaha blew it. I no longer have an interest in any "new" touring bike they "may" come out with.

I love the Indian Vintage but it is too rich for my blood. 23k.

I doubt anything is in the works, they would have been making a big deal about it to psych it up, especially with the bike market being so soft and the economy looking so precarious. I know Indian and Victory are making a damn decent bike if you want a twin but I'm not sure they come much cheaper than 23k. IMHO once you get away from twins it's hard to go back when there are so many better balanced choices. Just like cars it would be a hit to buy new and there are some exceptional machines already out there so I wont hold my breath for Yamaha to come up with something.

Probably the poorest value in the motorcycling world is a new HD, but used are getting much MUCH more plentiful and cheaper if the big twin is acceptable for your riding style. But look what else you can get for around 16k used.

I dont know this seller and it's not local to me, I just pulled it as a random example of something that would be an outstanding bang for the buck mile eater for the performance minded. Because of bikes like this and Wings, Yamaha would have to come up with something exceptional to command >20k without hordes of them sitting on showroom. I find it odd that not so much as a spy photo has been leaked, I also find it odd that they would pick a release date that would have snow over a good part of the USA.

Don't know what it's like at dealers south of the border but around here, you walk into any "metric" bike dealer (Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, etc) and mostly all you see are sport bikes, dirt bikes, multi-terrain bikes, with a small spattering of cruisers and maybe a touring class bike (not sport touring, there's lot's of those). Also you will see a good selection of ATVs and now out comes the snow machines. Victory and Indian shops also have a ton of ATVs and snow machines, etc but the dealer here has a very good selection of both the Victory and Indian line. Harley, BMW, and maybe Triumph are about the only ones not displaying product other than motorcycles although that depends on who is selling BMW and Triumph.

Point being, Yamaha is not going to focus their attention on low volume sellers (product line) in a market that is already dominated by Harley, Victory, Indian, BMW, Honda, and Kawasaki (the only one's selling full-blown touring bikes) ya, I know, I might have missed one or two yada yada...

Sport bikes, Sport Touring, Dirt, Cruiser, ATVs, Snow machines ... THAT is Yamaha's focus, not to mention their water sports lines.

(just my $0.05)

I could care less if they came out with a 3rd gen or not, I have 2 bikes now that get me from point a to b. The prices they want for them is way to rich for my blood, I will stick to what I have and be perfectly happy!!

Don't really believe it.... BUT.... if they do let's hope that they got their heads around FUEL INJECTION! To have a big touring bike post 2000 with carbs is imo crazy.
