Condor Posted August 14, 2016 #1 Posted August 14, 2016 Spending way too much money on Guns lately.... In the last week I'm out $2400 bucks on two Winchester rifles. Actually I'll probably do better than gold, and damn well do better than keeping it in the bank....
ragtop69gs Posted August 14, 2016 #2 Posted August 14, 2016 Firearms are a great investment if you buy the right ones. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted August 14, 2016 #3 Posted August 14, 2016 You should be saving that money for your old age not blowing it on toys. Ooh did I tell ya I bought a bike for my wife.
bill in mn Posted August 14, 2016 #5 Posted August 14, 2016 I don't know much about gold and diamonds but I do know a lot about guns, Can't go wrong as an investment. 9mm. rounds the currency of the future.
Yammer Dan Posted August 14, 2016 #6 Posted August 14, 2016 Cabella's has sale going on on Ruger 380's....Warden needs a toy. She likes that 357 but its big and heavy.
Condor Posted August 14, 2016 Author #7 Posted August 14, 2016 What'd ya git?! A Cabela's Limited edition 50th Anniversary, '1 of 250, Model 70's in 264 Win Mag. and an 1892 John Wayne 100 anniversary in 44-40. I think?? I did pretty good on both guns. Both are unfired in the box w/docs in mint condition....
Condor Posted August 14, 2016 Author #9 Posted August 14, 2016 Nice!!! There is one problem. I bought the 70 264 to replace a custom 264 that was stolen about 25 years ago... The first 10 I searched for my gun, the second 10 I sorta gave up, and have been sorta looking for the last five when I found this one. Now the problem is... it's too damn nice to shoot.... :-) It's going to be a safe queen. And.... that gives me the excuse to go looking for another 264 shooter. I already have one spotted in Cody Wy. :-) We'll see..... ??
luvmy40 Posted August 14, 2016 #10 Posted August 14, 2016 Very Nice! I'm on the prowl for an early 70's vintage Marlin model 1895 in 45-70 to match my 336. Ever since Ohio opened up deer hunting to straight wall pistol caliber rifles, the 45-70s have become expensive hen's teeth around here.

She likes that 357 but its big and heavy. check out Bersa Thunder in .380 (think Walther/ James Bond). Wont break the bank and dependable. A little on the heavy side for a .380 but not bad. I like mine....
Condor Posted August 15, 2016 Author #12 Posted August 15, 2016 I do own a S&W 9mm and a COLT Trooper .357, but don't consider myself a sidearm fan. Back in the old days....... I used to buy a Ruger and the leather and carry it during the deer season loaded with snake loads, and then sell it after the season ended. Do the same thing the following year. Nowdays I'm a big fan of long guns. 'Specially those that are higher grade. I like the looks, the quality of workmanship, and that little something that makes them different somehow. Be it design, caliber, engraving, or wood. I run into one like that and I can't help myself... I gotta own it....

kevin-vic-b.c. Posted August 15, 2016 #14 Posted August 15, 2016 What'd ya git?! 2002 VStar 650 custom for her.
uechi kid Posted August 16, 2016 #15 Posted August 16, 2016 Boy Condor, I feel your pain. I haven't purchased any collectibles but since Sandy Hook, because of the flood of new gun and ammo control laws here in CA, we have spent a small fortune on guns and ammo. We have purchase numerous pistols and rifles. A bunch of ammo, 22lr, 9mm, 40S&W, 223, 308. This doesn't even include the reloading equipment and components. I could have bought a new bike for cash with what we have spent on gun related stuff.
Condor Posted August 16, 2016 Author #16 Posted August 16, 2016 You're not alone.. I have quite a few friends that are doing the same thing. I just can't get into the modular stuff. To me firearms are an art form... that works when it needs to.... Here's a pic of my 454 casull zombie art form loaded with 360gr FP Penetrators.... :-) Beautiful lever gun..
Flyinfool Posted August 16, 2016 #18 Posted August 16, 2016 Well if you like different. Is it a rifle or a hand gun? It has a 14 inch barrel and chambered in 7mm-08. I bought this for back when the hunting regs called for shotguns or hand guns only. This will easily drop a deer at 200 + yards. This one is even for sale..........
Condor Posted August 16, 2016 Author #19 Posted August 16, 2016 How's this for a work of art. Yep... I have it's grand daddy.... Well if you like different. Is it a rifle or a hand gun? It has a 14 inch barrel and chambered in 7mm-08. I bought this for back when the hunting regs called for shotguns or hand guns only. This will easily drop a deer at 200 + yards. This one is even for sale.......... I remember you posting about that one before.... It's really off the grid. Me thinks you're going to have that one for a long time. Curious... How long would it take to squeeze off 3 rounds. 7mm-08 is a nice caliber.. Thought about picking one up when the time was right... It ain't right now... :-)
Flyinfool Posted August 16, 2016 #20 Posted August 16, 2016 I have never fired 3 rounds at a deer from any gun. 2 rounds on rare occasion. It is about as fast to reload as my New England Firearms single shot shotgun that I take upland bird hunting. Having a single shot makes you pick your shot better and learn to make the first one count. Just for giggles I did use it once at a bowling pin shoot, I took down 5 pins in 30 seconds, with 6 shots. I had a soft pin and the bullet went thru the pin and did not knock it off the table, second shot square into the base of the pin, got 90% of the pin off the table. For comparison with one of my guns that is built for speed I can take 5 pins in 2.5 seconds and that is bumping up against the speed of the guns action.
