So I finally switched to windows 10. I mostly folowed silvert's directions as best as my limited know how allowed me to during the change. I went to custom settings and switched of pretty much everything. So now that I am up and running I am finding my Computer is slow often freezing up or stalling. I keep getting warning flag's flashing up and google search engine does not seem to work at all in internet explorer, it just freezes up my laptop. I have a Dell Inspiron 7520 with the intel i7-3632QM@220GHz processor (whatever that all means) 8.0 GB of RAM and 700 GB of hard drive space of which I have only used 128 GB . So I am thinking with my limited knowledge all should work well. NOT. :backinmyday:At this point I am thinking I much preferred the windows 8.1, running the shell program Wizard765 installed for me.

Problem is as much as I was hesitant to switch over I have been told by more than one IT guy that eventually I would have to any way as support for windows 7,8 and 8.1 would drop off.

Sometimes I thnk of the old addage ---- You would never miss the taste of icecream had you never tasted it in the 1st place.-------and how it also applies to the computer age. Though I do have to admit good things like Venture rider and other benefits would not be possible with out it but why keep making it more complicated instead of stupid simple for us average Joes or even dumber Saddlebums.:bang head::bang head::bang head:

It has it's plusses and minuses for certain. All the old stuff is still there but you have to go looking for it. Not too bad once you get familiar but IE was always slow on my machine and freezeups were the norm several times per sitting. "Edge" seems to be a bit better but my wife prefers "FireFox" and uses it exclusively. Daughter uses "Chrome" and is happy.

Sorry to hear of your displeasure of Win10.

Did you run ccleaner prior to upgrading? If not, download it and run it and clean up unnecessary files and optimize your registry.

You may need to look for a driver for your sound card that is Win10 compatible.

Use either FireFox or Maxthon to browse the Web. IE and that other piece of crap that comes with Win10 are useless IMO.

Considering the specs of your computer, it should not be running slow and freezing. Can you specify what exactly is running slow/freezing? Is it certain apps?

Sounds like you need a visit from Mr. Wizard...

I have no complaints with 10, works fine for me!! I went from 7 to 10 on an older computer, maybe about 6 yrs old or more...

I wound up with Windows 10 and I did everything possible not to allow it to download. One morning I got up and there is was on my computer. Here's Your Sign!

I have figured a lot of it out, I did prefer my old Windows 7 I had used for years. The hardest part was figuring out the photos.

Did you by chance end up with duplicates of photos renamed with a bunch of zeros? Cause somehow i got that... I can switch back to windows 8 anytime by doing factory reset cause my ghost copy is on partitioned part of my disk... But I do miss windows 7... but the windows 10 does have some cool advantages like i can expand my screen to a 42 inch TV... or duplicate it but you need a Roku or an Xbox to do it too dont know about PS and alot of ol folks on here be scratching there heads basically it makes it alot easier to ad an aditional bigger screen. you could on other systems but you had to have a lot of know how... Being as I am in Microsofts Preview Program I ended up with a very very buggy version of windows 10 now it seems they may have fixed quite a few things but still nothing on the Microsoft Edge... they ask our input we give it and sometimes it seems to be ignored.. Be nice if they paid me for it tho with some of the crap they put out there.... I figured why not cause you get to try things that will/will not come out in final format to public... I have gotten my kids a couple of free games or apps this way so guess its a cool deal...

I did download and run ccleaner prior to making the change. I also ran defrag prior to making the change.
