dacheedah Posted July 30, 2016 #1 Posted July 30, 2016 My year has been spent dealing with my fathers death and the new addition of Mom at our house, Mom has memory care issues. In addition my wife's neck pain and left arm going numb. After a lot of insurance , change of work insurance by employer and starting all over and office visits, they found that Chris's last neck fusion did not take and she had broken hardware in her neck. We were sent to see a specialist at Northwestern in Chicago who said the only option was to go in through the back of the neck this time, she has had 3 previous procedures from the front and lots of scar tissue. Old hardware will stay but new hardware an some synthetic bone was added from the back. No doubt will not be putting many miles on the bike this summer and I have not been active with much outside of Chris's recovery. Sittin on the sidelines
slowrollwv Posted July 30, 2016 #2 Posted July 30, 2016 WOW! hope she has a speedy recovery. Prayers up.

dacheedah Posted August 21, 2016 Author #10 Posted August 21, 2016 Prayers appreciated! Long road, they went in the back and added new hardware and some synthetic and cadaver bone, she is in a neck collar for 3 months and can not lift more than a cup of coffee , the broken hardware was left in the front but the fusion in front never took. now lite OT and weekly nurse visits. For those that have not been to Northwestern, it is actually several hospitals with different specialties connected by a walk bridge. While we were at Northwestern and anyone in this circumstance can not help but feel sorry about our situation. I would walk to the womans hospital to get food that fit in my low carb lifestyle. That took me through the Childrens Hospital corridor, seeing some little people with much bigger life struggles than ours put a whole new perspective on our situation. Ride safe!!!
BG Hawks Posted August 21, 2016 #11 Posted August 21, 2016 Dacheedah, Here's to a speedy recovery. This past week I had to make a trip to Mayo for a check up. Long road trip for a check up but its based on genetics. I understand and appreciate when you say you get a new perspective as I get grounded every time I there. For me all is well! Take care.
