I've laid mine over about 4 times, always at a stop. VERY EMBARRASSING!!! No damage yet. However, I have an appointment this Friday to have leveling links installed in hopes of helping the problem. If everything I've read is true, they should help.

Just a note here, the leveling links will actually raise the rear of the bike aby about an inch. This will be felt in the seat also, it will help the slow speed steering a bit as your changing the steering geometry of the front, but it's not a failsafe. I'm also in the club and the best thing to remember is dont hit the front brakes quick while going slow. It takes a lot of getting used to, to be able to master these beasts. They are heavy and demand respect...which I humbly give them

I have dropped mine once and I'm sure I will again. I'm nursing a bruise and skinned ankle after my last close call. Pulled through the drive thru at our local Hardees to get me a sausage and egg biscuit for breakfast. After the young lady handed me my sack, I coasted down a few feet so the truck behind me could get theirs. I put down the kickstand and swung my leg over to put the sandwich in my travel trunk. MISTAKE!!! Bike was on a slight incline, nudged it with my leg, and down it started. Only thing that kept it up was the fact that somehow my ankle got between the kickstand and the bike. Ouch!! It was push it up or get pinned under it. You are all correct, that is one very heavy bike to stop from going over.

If it hadn't been for a curb I could put my other foot against it would have been on its side but resting on me.

Stop worrying about dropping your bike!!!!!!

Get a copy of Ride Like a Pro V DVD and LEARN HOW to properly ride your bike. I was humbled after watching it the first time!!!!! I practice the techniques every time I ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also in the DVD they show how a small lady can pick up an H-D Elctra Glide. About 800 LBS of bike v/s 100 Lbs of lady..... she wins!!!!! It is all in the technique!!!!!

i've dropped mine several times, most of them within the first 6 mos. but the worst time i dropped it, i was in my garage and had just changed the oil and filter. i was laying on the floor looking for any leaks. i had cut a couple of 2x6's to put under the kickstand to make her more level. i reach up to pull the bike over a little more level and over she came.

on top of me in my garage. i can't move i'am pinned between the bike my lawn mower and the side garage wall. at my feet are cabinets can't excape that way. the only way out is crawing out past the exhaust pipes. after i craw out from under the bike, i'am looking around the 'hood to see if anyone saw me. nope coast is clear. now i'am trying to figure out how to get her up.

now i figure i'll just stand on the floorboards and yake her over. just like you see all those sailboat sailors do ( leaning to one side keep the boat from tiping over ). nope that an't happening. i finaly get the bright idea to put my floor jack under the rt. passanger floorboard. and behold she's starting to come back over to the left side. i tell my wife later that enveing what happend. and she's just a rolling with laughter. say's if you had your cell phone on i could have call 911. right like that was going to happen, those emt's would still be laugthing.

i still use the 2x6's to get her level, BUT I DON'T TOUCH THE HANDLEBARS ANYMORE while changing the oil.

I dropped mine in the driveway trying to execute a U-turn with no speed at all.

The bike just flopped over and I didn't even have my foot down to catch it. Lucky for me the bike was undamaged and no one saw me do it. I had it back up right away.

Of course I had to tell everyone about it in VentureRiders. :rotf:

Agreed! Just bought/watched that DVD last night. All I can say is, WOW! Also, amazing what these big bikes are really capable of, if you use proper technique, not brute strength.

Can't wait to actually get mine and find out first hand!

10 hours and counting down before I see her first hand.

OK , it's 5 on the road for me and once in the garage . Since this bike likes to tip over I've developed my own way to get it up again at least when it happens I can show the spectators that it's not a problem then drive away swallowing my pride ............:cool10:

It is important to develop a classy dismount and a remount that appears effortless to impress the locals. :cool10: :cool10: :cool10:

since we're talking about dropping bikes, i've never seen or read anywhere that talks about what your passenger can do when the bike goes over.....should they hold on and lean opposite the fall, jump off....what......i'd like to instruct my girlfriend as to what she should do.......

I told my wife just to step off on and stay out of the way. The bike won't flip completely over if the bike is stopped or going very slowly. My 1st gen will come to rest on motor guards and foot pegs. The extra weight of her remaining in the seat will just speed up the fall. Keep her safe and happy. That way, if something does get dinged, she won't mind too much if you have to buy a new "shiny" replacement thing for it. :cool10::cool10::cool10:

Wow and I thought that I was the only one that dropped one of these beast's. First one was making a u-turn and not going quick enough, I was so mad that I just grabbed it by the handle bars and rear grab bar and yanked it up, it bent the engine guard and pushed up the foot rest, soon fixed that with a big boot.

The second time was at the gas station trying to get around a truck in front of me, she started to go and that was it, now that was embarassing! icon11.gif
