Hi, new to this. Purchased a 2002 Venture with the, as I found out, the gear whine issue. It is ok until 100-110kms or about 65-70 mph, it whines loudly.

Have read some venture articles on Motorkote.

Has as any one used this and does it effect a wet clutch system.

There is another fix for the whine here on the site somewhere, it involves installing an oiler line to the clutch are from what I remember. Other fix is to replace your clutch basket with a Rev "I" basket but that is not a guaranteed fix.

Turn up the radio or put loud pipes on, the whine is characteristic of the 2nd gen and there is no ill effects other than being irritating. We just accept the George Jetson sound...

RussLightwing did a write up on the oil line he ran - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?119593-YES-WHINE-is-GONE-I-Finally-did-IT-PUT-OIL-line-to-THE-DRIVE-gear-on-Clutch-housing&highlight=whine+line which fixed his issue.

Other option is to get an "i" basket but that would run you in the $300 or so. From my reading, I believe Yamaha started using the "i" basket for the 2009 model year.

People have tried various oils....I use Rotella T6. Others have reported whine lessened with Rotella, some with Amsoil, some with Yamalube.

Hmm trying to remember what the motor kote stuff is. I have some stuff in a jug the label is long gone. But I thought it was motorkote. We had some @ race shop. The stuff I have is very graphite looking stuff. And if you get it on something its on there, like a stain. So I dont know maybe I have something else. I am running it in the wifes car rite now.
