Ay_Dee Posted July 6, 2016 #1 Posted July 6, 2016 OK, I have ridden dirt bikes all my life 30+ years, have also ridden street and this is my biggest bike so far. I have never had a bike with a heel n toe shifter and although I'm getting the hang of it, its not normal Well the thought did occur to me to switch the shifting pattern, to toe for up shift and heel for down shift, which led me to youtube where I discovered that sport bikes are going to this pattern - where its called GP shifting - and this makes a lot of sense. Anyway, I'd like to know if anyone has done this to their RSTD or RSV?
bongobobny Posted July 6, 2016 #2 Posted July 6, 2016 You can always saw off the back half of the shifter then it will be a normal toe only shifter...
BratmanXj Posted July 6, 2016 #3 Posted July 6, 2016 Hmm, I have issues trying to get a size 12 under the peg to shift. To reverse the shift pattern on the RS series you'd have to make an attachment point BELOW the heal-tow shifter and lengthen the shift rod. The reason some sport bikes offer the "reverse" shift pattern is a more positive engagement of the gear with a toe-down upshift.
