Freebird Posted July 4, 2016 #1 Posted July 4, 2016 (edited) I was swapping some emails with Nanci at Ace High Leathers, @Luvdaleather , and she mentioned that she has a hard time getting the hole to center perfectly with the button on the saddlebag. She asked what I thought about removing the black plastic surround and putting it on top of the leather or vinyl. I once had another set of covers and remembered that they were done that way. Nanci asked if I wanted to volunteer to give it a try so sure...why not. Here is a picture of the end result. I think that it gives the lid covers a more finished look. I sent her a couple of pictures and she likes it also. If you have her lid covers already, this is simple to do and I think worth the effort. You don't cut out any of the material, just punch a couple of holes for the screws to go through. Edited July 5, 2016 by Freebird
djh3 Posted July 5, 2016 #3 Posted July 5, 2016 I bought some lid covers for my XCT. 2 reasons, first being someone (I wont mention whom) scratched the lid on the RSV while getting on. The other reason was I needed a place to add a little carrying capacity. The Victory ones have loops on them so you can run a bungie thru them. And whatever you strapping down wont scratch the lids.
StarFan Posted July 5, 2016 #4 Posted July 5, 2016 I asked Nanci to make me a different kind of covers that I designed for the saddlebag lids on the Red Baron since I did not want to cover the lids completely. The reason is that the Red Baron can´t take to much more of addons in my view. This is how they look. Just a different approach but these need to be fastened by Velcros. I think they turned out nice and they are flat as pancakes. Will post a thread of the upgrades I have done on the Red Baron after I was run down this spring. Had to chance the front fender and everything that attaches to it. It is finally done and finished. No more Add Ons. DONE !!!! http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/The%20Red%20Baron/IMG_0282_zps2bfq8zea.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/jonaslill/The%20Red%20Baron/IMG_0266_zpsasolvrbd.jpg
Freebird Posted July 5, 2016 Author #5 Posted July 5, 2016 WOW....looks fantastic my friend. I wouldn't actually ride it anywhere. Maybe just sit it in the living room.
StarFan Posted July 5, 2016 #6 Posted July 5, 2016 Thanks my friend. Well there is more,,,kind of,,, I will try and post a thread tonight with all the upgrades I have done after the crash. Now THIS THING IS DONE ! No more Add Ons I promise myself. Well,,,,I kind of thought about having the passenger grab bars braided with the same material as the seats and the covers since I stripped the rubber off and had them painted,,,and maybe have the levers done the same way gray and Red,,,,,,,Where does this end ??? Think I have to sell the bike and start a new one this winter. Have a Millenium at Craigs place that I itch to take home and do a custom color change,,,,,,,,,Errr,,,,,,,
BigLenny Posted July 5, 2016 #7 Posted July 5, 2016 Wow, Starfan! That looks awesome! I'm like Freebird, I would be hesitant to ride that thing anywhere. Is all that trim waterproof? Big Lenny
