Freebird Posted July 4, 2016 #2 Posted July 4, 2016 (edited) Enjoy...I recently did just the opposite. Sold my '13 Road Glide and went back to the Yamaha. Edited July 4, 2016 by Freebird
kentuckyrider Posted July 4, 2016 Author #3 Posted July 4, 2016 I usually keep a bike about 5 years. Think I have had the VR about 7. Really a nice bike. My dad always had Electra Glides. When I was in diapers he put me in front and off we would go. I have had harleys, but not a electra glide. From the time I was little I wanted a electra glide. This is my first. I was tinkering with it yesterday, but instead of using my tools. I broke out my dads old tools about my age. Stood there and got a good laugh. I just imagined him wrenching on his 60 models.
XV1100SE Posted July 4, 2016 #6 Posted July 4, 2016 Very nice ! Before getting the Venture I looked at the Electra Glide Classic.
cowpuc Posted July 4, 2016 #7 Posted July 4, 2016 WOW ZZZZZZZZZZZ WOW WOW WOW - she's a dandy Tuck!! :clap2::thumbsup: What year is it and how many miles?
kentuckyrider Posted July 4, 2016 Author #8 Posted July 4, 2016 02, high miles, but completely rebuilt by a local HD dealership. 7 grand in the motor. Big Cams, performance chip. Will smoke a tire in 5th. I bought it off the first and only owner. He put a lot in it and everything was done by a local dealer. Has health issues and can't ride anymore. Powder coated the wheels and forks. The speakers at about 1/4th volume will blast you off the bike. He took care of this jewel.

Main reason I asked was those early Twin Cams had problems with the cam chain tensioners (premature wear caused plastic tensioner particles to contaminate/plug the oil pump). Best fix being Andrews gear drive cam's BUT Harley did have a tensioner up grade and oil pump upgrade.. Sounds like you ended up with one that has already been taken care of my friend = THAT IS AWESOME!! All the best in many many miles of smiles on that gorgeous new scoot!! 5th gear burnouts -

I tell you what. No explanation was needed because a man or woman should ride whatever brings the biggest smile. That being said, that was one heck of a nice explanation. Very nice.
Venturous Randy Posted July 4, 2016 #11 Posted July 4, 2016 Just remember, we are like Hotel California, you can check out, but you can never leave. Randy
Larry1963 Posted July 5, 2016 #12 Posted July 5, 2016 Very nice ! Before getting the Venture I looked at the Electra Glide Classic. I was on my way to buy a 2007 Electra Glide with 7500 miles nice looking bike for 12K I had borrowed 6k to pay in cash. In the same town a couple months before I looked at an 07 RSV, that guy wanted 8500, the RSV had 18K miles on it. Like I said I was on my way to buy the HD and this guy called back and said I will let you have the RSV for 6K if you can have the money here by 3 pm. I told him I would be there in 20 min. So how I ended up with my RSV I hate to say it, I want a HD, mainly because everyone else has one. Might sound vain, but since I was a kid I have always wanted a HD. I did own a Fat Boy, I could be wrong on that, while stationed in Alaska. it was a AMF bike and it leaked and was broken down more than it run. I was crashed and a friend of mine had it in his basement rebuilding it, well I helped him rebuild the bike. Once built he didn't like the size of the bike. This guy had a cool wife. Twice a year, she let him ride the bikes in the house, winter to put in the basement. Yes through the kitchen and living room down the stairs to the basement. In the spring, up the stairs through the living room, kitchen and out the back door to a car port. Let me tell you going down the stairs was scary but going up the stairs was worse.
SilvrT Posted July 5, 2016 #13 Posted July 5, 2016 I'll admit I've always liked the Electra Glide Ultras and now the Limited edition ... I was going to buy one when the 2009s came out but for some reason, couldn't justify spending that much money... so I bought an '06 RSMV ... then sold that and bought an '03 Wing ... then traded that in for a new '13 Victory CCT ... I've probably spent a lot more than the price of that Harley since LOL. Too late for me now though.

Yammer Dan Posted July 5, 2016 #15 Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) I cain't go by the Hardley shop without stopping to drool over them. But then I see all those torn down in their shop and I remember sitting beside the road waiting for someone to come get me. I forgot!!! Congrats on the new ride!! Its not about WHAT you ride. Hope you get a lot of miles out of it. Edited July 6, 2016 by Yammer Dan
