I was just wondering how many on this site own a Vmax motorcycle. I know a few that do, Dingy is one, and Puc is another, if he hasn't gotten rid of it, as well as myself. The reason I'm asking is, it's the same basic engine as the Venture and RSV. Not too much concerned about the 1700 version since it's an entirely different animal. If there's enough interest, why not have a section dedicated to those fine machines?

Thanks Boss. Let me correct myself. I'm not sure Dingy actually has one but he has a lot of knowledge "Vmax Powering" his Venture.

ROCK N ROLL :dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool:,, I LOVE your suggestion Kirby - even though I am still :95: over Crud!:95:

I think it would be AWESOME to have a V-Max area cause they are AMAZING scoots,, PLUS,, maybe it would be a really good spot for a gathering of the minds on swapping out V-Max parts into our Ventures.. I got a BUNCH of V-max parts I am gonna be selling and whoever ends up with em is gonna need all the help they can get = before, during and after they mount em on their Venture :big-grin-emoticon:

Been a number of these guru's who have swapped in the V-Max rear end,, first one that comes to mind is @Venturous Randy

.. I have hunch that swapping in just the wheel would just be a matter of moving a few parts around on the wheel assembly itself BUT,, thats just a guess.. It will be interesting to here what the guru's have to say!!

Looked at the swing arms - they are different design at the swingarm pivot - also know that the vmax has a traditional dual spring rear end vs. the mono link.

hard to tell from pictures if the business end (wheel, ring and pinion) is dimensionally the same.

It's not a big deal to put a V-Max final drive on an MKI. You will need a driveshaft from an MKII as it has the MKII coupling that feeds oil to the coupling, rather than having to manually grease the coupling on the 83/85 bikes. There is also a difference in the plastic dust cover that mounts to the final drive and I assume it is the one from the MKII as when Denden sent it to me, it was still in the original plastic bag and I just took the one that was on the final drive off and put the new one on.

As far as the rear wheel, I am not sure about the spacing or if the dust cover works. When putting the V-Max final drive on a 1st gen, you will need to saw off the shock mount stud as it will hit the swing arm.

Might have to call that fella on the other side of the state that specialized in vmax stuff to get rear wheel hub width... blue ridge power sports.
