Krewl Posted July 2, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 2, 2016 I recently have begun to smell gas fumes more and experiencing increased backfire on decel. I plan on adjusting the PMS and then carb syncing. But I read that the rubber caps on the carb vacuum get old and crack causing leaks and need to be checked. These are the vacum ports used when you sync the carbs. Sure enough, large crack in one. I know I read this somewhere but cannot find it. Anyway, I think the said to pull off the cap and go to a autoparts place to looks for a replacement. Anyone have any thoughts or experience about this? Thanks in advance....again. Todd "Rip" Rippy RSTD noob

KSRIDER10 Posted July 2, 2016 Share #3 Posted July 2, 2016 Any auto parts store should have a number of different sizes in stock. Bring an old one to compare. I found a set for my RSTC at Advance Discount Auto.

ToyOdie Posted July 3, 2016 Share #5 Posted July 3, 2016 I picked some up at Autozone. They worked fine but they cracked and needed to be replaced in less than a year. After replacing them several times, I ordered the OEM caps when I was ordering some other parts. I haven't had to replace them since.
cimmer Posted July 5, 2016 Share #6 Posted July 5, 2016 the auto store replacement will last for a bit but I found the the OEM ones or replacements meant for a motorcycle seems to hold up better. I got my replacements from Yamaha but I see that Sirius Consolidated, http://www.siriusconinc.com, also have replacement caps. Good luck.. Rick F.
