cwhite123174 Posted June 30, 2016 #1 Posted June 30, 2016 I want to get a Nautilus Stebel Horn. Are they pretty good? Will it mount on the right side in place if the stock horn? Any and all suggestions is appreciated of course.
djh3 Posted June 30, 2016 #2 Posted June 30, 2016 The Stebel and wolo bad boy horns are about the same. I have also used the knock off ones on e-bay and had no issues. I think Carbon one makes a relay kit for these horns. You have to run a relay for those types of horns because they draw so much more amps. He may still make the stainless brackets too. I made mine out of alum.
cwhite123174 Posted June 30, 2016 Author #3 Posted June 30, 2016 I have reached out to Larry. I will wait and see what he has to say about the bracket and harness. Thanks!
SilvrT Posted June 30, 2016 #4 Posted June 30, 2016 I had the Stebel horn on my Venture ... got a FIAMM 'Ultimate Blast' on my Vic ... don't see much difference ... sure wakes folks up! That said, it's not recommended for motorcycles by reviewers... This depends on where you install it. Mine is up out of the elements tucked into my lowers.
vzuden Posted June 30, 2016 #5 Posted June 30, 2016 The Wolo horn was available at Harbor Freight and O'Reilly Auto Parts when I bought mine about 5 years ago. Slightly cheaper for the same horn at the time at O'Reilly. It has lasted all this time with no problems. I purchased the polished bracket and relay/power feed wires from member @Carbon_One http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=10&title=stebel-2f-wolo-air-horn-wiring-harness&cat=15
cecdoo Posted June 30, 2016 #6 Posted June 30, 2016 Yep, talk to Larry, his stuff makes the install a breeze. Craig
cwhite123174 Posted July 6, 2016 Author #8 Posted July 6, 2016 Ok.. I got the Wolo bad boy horn. I got Larry's bracket and harness in hand. I also bought his trailer hitch receiver. I want to put a rack back there to give me more room for luggage. I know I need to add lights to it but what are some recommendations for lights to use? Since I am going to put lights on it, I want them to function fully as brake lights and taillights. I am thinking LED? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Talk to M61A1MECH(Steve) He makes some nice additional rear lighting for the RSV and Tour Deluxe.
cwhite123174 Posted July 6, 2016 Author #10 Posted July 6, 2016 Funny you say that... I am just about to order from him!
cwhite123174 Posted July 25, 2016 Author #11 Posted July 25, 2016 I bought the Wolo and got the harness and bracket from Larry but apparently they have changed the design of the Wolo because it is not install friendly! My better half thinks I am too picky but I don't like how it mounts. It mounts crooked! I broke one of the wires from Larry's harness but that's easily fixable. Just got to go get the other pc. Any does what I can do here? I am concerned that those wires are so close to the exhaust. I could probably deal with the way it sits.... Crooked. Don't mind the bare wire in the picture. I was just trying different ideas with everything. That's the pc I broke. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160725/8eb3aad8836ce41694b09bbc1f6a5e09.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160725/7f2ad699dd0fab2b5f941e31286731a8.jpg
djh3 Posted July 26, 2016 #12 Posted July 26, 2016 Ask Larry. But what I would do is bend the connector that goes on the horn at a 90 deg, then zip tie the wires up so they stay off the exhaust. I built my own bracket and harness, but thats what I had to do as space is limited there. Had to do the same with the one I mounted up in left front foot fairing.
DarrinGT Posted July 26, 2016 #13 Posted July 26, 2016 It looks like it is sitting too high, making it hit the rear exhaust pipe and sit crooked, is there a spacer under the bracket where it bolt to the motor? Maybe remove it,. or try to make it sit lower,.. Mine sits way closer to the exhaust pipe and I did what DJH3 suggested, Bent the connector 90 deg and zip tied them up, No problems. Couple pics,.. By the way, This horn works Awesome, I still have the stock horn in the front fairing that I can give a quick "toot" before the Stebel horn spools up, but when it does, I am heard!
cwhite123174 Posted July 26, 2016 Author #14 Posted July 26, 2016 I am not worried about the wires anymore. I have that fixed. I am however concerned with how the Wolo mounts with my bracket. It basically just sits over the bolt. I am going to maybe straighten the bracket out so I can mount through holes rather than just slipping it over a bolt. Gonna try to figure out how to get it sitting straighter too. That crooked look drives me crazy! It will just take some modification of the bracket I'm sure. This Wolo Bad Boy Horn is bigger than it looks but it will sure get some attention! It's loud! Very loud! Exactly what I was looking for!
videoarizona Posted July 26, 2016 #15 Posted July 26, 2016 CW, yep...my horns both sit on the bracket bolt. Doesn't seem very strong but both have been on for a while and no issues yet. I just cranked it down snug and done. If you feel insecure about the mount, safety tie the horn bracket to the scoot. At least it won't fly away that way...
