Help Me Solve My Dilemma (aka somebody make my mind up for me)

I have 2 bikes ...

My Victory which is licensed and insured and comfortable for Nina as a passenger. ( a very important thing!)

My Road Star which is not licensed and not comfortable for her.

We are trailering one of these bikes to Kruisn Kootenays rally July 7th

I can put a permit on the Road Star which will provide full insurance coverage for the few days we'll use it up there at a very reasonable price.

The Victory is up for sale

In the event of an accident either while we're hauling it or during a ride, whichever bike I take could be totaled.

If it's the Victory, then I'm out a sellable bike but would get whatever the insurance would pay me. (probably not as much as I could sell it for)

If it's the Road Star, same thing except when I sell the Victory, I'd then have to take whatever insurance money I got for the Road Star and buy another bike. Would probably have to add money out of pocket too.

So, my dilemma is .... which bike should we take?????????

Take the comfortable one. You're equally hosed if you wreck either one so that shouldn't factor in. Keeping the lady happy/comfortable sounds like the only important difference.:biker:

Decisions, decisions! I think you already know the answer. That is..., whatever makes the little missus happy! Take the Vic.

:sign yeah that:

If you are that worried about the lose of value due to a "potential crash" then you should not take either one and sell them both.

The crash scenario would not even enter into my thought process. If the 2 of you plan to ride together then you have already answered your question. Gotta keep Mama happy.

I wouldn't say I'm "that worried" ... just weighing one scenario against the other.

But, y'all are right ... "happy wife... happy life" is the rule to follow! Takin the Vic! Thanks for y'all tellin me what I already knew but didn't know it LOL

Why worry about a crash at this stage of the game. You've ridden thousands of kms. without any problems so save the interim permit cost, load up that beautiful Vic and giv'er. Besides you're the organizer, you need to have the sharpest ride there! Well close to it anyway, lol. Just my nickel's worth. Doug

I am with Jeff on this one,,, just seems like you might be giving ol Murph a real advantage Silv.. Also seems like if ya got those kind of thoughts rattling around in the back of your mind it would take away from the enjoyment/relaxation of spending time out enjoying life.. You are touching on one of the main reasons I have been riding old 1st Gen's with no second gear all this time though.. I have always liked the freedom of being able to just leave the scoot , hitch hike home and buy another 700 dollar bike and go back at it if I cant fix it BUT - that was/is more about break downs than accidents.. Seriously brother,, if your having a hard time getting past a feeling of impending doom or really concerned about crashing - losing a few bucks on the bikes would be the absolute last thing I would worry about - especially if I were gonna be having my gorgeous Tippy on the back (or anyone else for that matter)..

Now if we/I am totally misreading your thread here and it's nothing more than worrying about losing a few bucks,,, I would talk to Nina and see what her feelings are about actually riding once ya get to the party.. If she really has interest and wants to spend some time riding (life dont get no better than that),, I would have that gorgeous Vic strapped into the trailer so fast the neighbors would think we were having a 5 star fire alarm :big-grin-emoticon:.. If not,, cover the Vic, take the Roadie and ride it like ya stole it (ya will have to if there happens to be a 1st Gen Venture at the party and ya wanna keep up :big-grin-emoticon: - sorry brother, fingers are feeling frisky)..

Either way,, hope you folks have a BLAST out there!!!

Well, maybe old age is catching up on me cause nowadays I think of such things whereas in years gone by, I never gave it a thought. The main thing I was concerned about is if something happened to the Vic it would affect my ability to sell it. "something" meaning anything ... got stolen ... a car backed into it while parked ... the tire cap of a passing truck hit it while it's on the trailer ... a rock flew up from my truck's tire and smashed the fairing... etc etc

Thanks a bunch for the feedback ... y'all ROCK!

Yeah, well, while you're gone, a meteor could smash into whichever one you leave home, or it could gwet stolen, or the garage could catch on fire, or???

dang... good thinkin there bob ... guess I'm hooped no matter which way I go ... might as well stop livin all together eh?

You did read about our fellow rider over on one of the Vic sites right. He and a buddy were just out for a nice weekend ride, came out from the store with a cold drink and some gal had backed over his bike. If I thought about all the bad things that could happen my head would explode.

I do believe in premonitions.

Me too sister!!

Tip wanted to plant some Hosta's and wanted me to take her to Menards to buy some... Had a premonition this was not a good idea BUT, cause I love her, to Menards we went.. Came home, neighbor came by, neighbor and I got pickin on Tip about planting flowers when we could have been riding, Tip got mad, had to tell her I was sorry, finished up the flower planting, got dizzy, fell over, scraped up hands, forced to go to ER to have heart checked, got a nurse who had no clue how to put in an IV, Doc said I was fine but ordered Stress test, spent whole day having stress test, all good, sitting here typing with scrapes on my hands/elbows/knees and a massive blood filled bruise on my arm that measures 8x4 inches from the IV wanna be = I DO, I DO, I DO BELIEVE IN PREMONITIONS - too:missingtooth:

Hi Rick. You know how I feel about your Victory. I think I told you several times last year that it was a beauty. You should certainly bring that along so we can oogle over it and perhaps at the wrap up Saturday night, we can auction it off. I will start the bidding at $10,000.

well now ... guess I have no choice in the matter any more ... ummm ... can I put a reserve on it?

Since you saw it last, I've added a few more "farkles" and safety chrome.

Good idea Dale and thanks for starting the bid!
