tech1will Posted June 19, 2016 #1 Posted June 19, 2016 I am looking to find a fairing that I can mount a radio and at least 2 speakers with minimal modification, as well as a set of hard bags and a tour pack. I am not sure if other year models are compatible any help in this would be greatly appreciated. I am loving this bikes power and the size feels perfect for me just want to make it more enjoyable with tunes and storage for camp supplies.
yamagrl Posted June 19, 2016 #2 Posted June 19, 2016 We used Memphis Shades Batwing on our 2003 Roadstar 1600 Classic and also on our 2007 Vstar 1100 Classic and they work great. They also offer a bunch of accessories for their fairings but I'm not sure about radio installation. http://www.memphisshades.com/metric-shades/metric-fairings/metric-batwing-fairing
tech1will Posted June 19, 2016 Author #3 Posted June 19, 2016 Thank you for the response, I have seen those and I haven't seen one with the radio/dash that look like they fit. I have been all around ebay and it seems I have had the same luck as always of buying the year model of bike that the parts are hard to find. Always seems like I find the parts for every year except mine and I am not sure if something would be compatible Id hate to buy something and then screw it up trying to make it work. I have looked over tons of forums and found a lot of great ideas though. A lot of knowledgeable people here for sure. My better half has a vstar 650 so she is scouring the web as well for add ons. HAHAHAAH guess we will get there eventually.
yamagrl Posted June 19, 2016 #4 Posted June 19, 2016 Sometimes independent MC shops have someone that is very knowledgeable about what is available aftermarket. At Precision Tune in Milton Fl they are pretty sharp and also offer significant discounts to be competitive with online suppliers. I'm sure there's one like them pretty close to you. It might be worth giving them a shot.
M61A1MECH Posted June 19, 2016 #5 Posted June 19, 2016 Here is a set of Venture type bags for sale over on Delphi, http://forums.delphiforums.com/vrider/messages/16258/1, the problem you may have is mounting this style bag to your bike with the 4 x 4 exhaust, this style bag is best fitted to bikes with 4x2 pipes like on the Venture and Tour DeLuxe
tech1will Posted June 19, 2016 Author #6 Posted June 19, 2016 Well I was considering a throatier exhaust sound so I might have to look around for a full exhaust set. Probably have to throw that question out to the forums for opinions on some good options there too. I cant afford a full on dresser bike but I might be able to get there one day, a few pieces at a time.
DarrinGT Posted June 20, 2016 #7 Posted June 20, 2016 The Bags for sale are mine, but like what was stated you would need to change from 4 into 4 exhaust to the 4 into 2 exhaust. Then you would have to purchase the complete Saddle Bag Bracket,.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-13-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ1300-SADDLEBAG-MOUNT-BRACKET-MUFFLER-STAY-/381672126190?hash=item58dd6e76ee:g:iwQAAOSwGIRXYq1m&vxp=mtr The Muffler Hangers for the 4 into 2 exhaust are integrated in the Saddle Bag holders as well. All it takes it Money and time!
ToyOdie Posted June 21, 2016 #8 Posted June 21, 2016 Here is the link to the fairing I put on my 97 RSTC. I used your 96 as my inspiration: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?96433-Faring-Installation My bags are LertherLyke semi-hard bags. They came with the bike. I'm very happy with the size and they are lockable. I posted a similar question to yours some time ago. I wanted to know if the rear fender for any older gen 2 RSV will bolt directly to my 97 RSTC. If it does you can install the entire hardbag/trunk setup and convert to the 4 into 2 pipes. I never had any response.
tech1will Posted June 21, 2016 Author #9 Posted June 21, 2016 Well I have read your article the other day and I was using your fairing as my inspiration to do one myself heheeh. thanks so much for all the info everyone has shared it is very much appreciated
