Freebird Posted June 17, 2016 #1 Posted June 17, 2016 The ball mount that I got with my Bushtec trailer has too much drop for the RSV. The guy used it on a Boss Hoss trike and had it made for that bike. So, unless I can talk @Yammer Dan out of the one that was on the bike I sold him, I will need to find a new one. Can somebody tell me what the correct drop is for the ball mounts for the RSV? I'm tagging @Carbon_One on this also because he probably knows since he made the hitch. Thanks
Freebird Posted June 17, 2016 Author #2 Posted June 17, 2016 Well, I emailed Bushtec and they recommend 12" - 14" ride height. I guess the Boss Hoss sat a lot lower in the rear because he had the pin mounted so that the hitch raised it instead of dropped it. I had tried reversing it because it looked like it would be too low but I did so and it appears to be OK now. Looks to be about 12 1/2 to 13" and the trailer sits pretty level. Just looks like more drop that I remember having on the '99 and I had the leveling links on both bikes.
saddlebum Posted June 17, 2016 #3 Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) I do not know exactly what the correct Ball drop is , but I am pretty sure .......If you secure the Ball properly .......You shouldn't have to worry about dropping it On a more serious note I tend to prefer that the trailer sits just a bit higher at the rear when loaded but no less than level. i found from past experience, that with the front higher than the rear air flow under the trailer would have a tendency to cause the trailer to float were a higher back end would act like a spoiler and help hold the trailer down and more stable at highway speed (but not to much slope) Edited June 17, 2016 by saddlebum
