Auxillary Electrical outlets

This morning while I was reading through some Venture information I found a bit of info I was unfamiliar with.

It said that the Venture had cigarette lighter style electrical outlets for both rider and passenger.

Sometime later I was thinking about that on a ride to my FRA meeting and realized that I have never noticed/found

a cigarette lighter style outlet for the passenger. Where might that outlet be located? I know there is an outlet

under the seat but it is a different type and I use it to pigtail my Battery Tender and an auxillary USB outlet.

the outlet under the seat is a square plug type not the same lighter/power outlet that is in the fairing .

you could always install a fusebox via a relay and draw power from their for a rear power outlet

Yes I know that outlet is not the same, I said that in my post. I assume that the person who wrote the review I read had it wrong when he/she wrote "Separate cigarette lighter-type DC outlets for both rider and passenger."

I was just wondering if possibly the outlet was removed in later model years or ??? I went out and looked all over my 2009 RSV and found nothing. I do have a USB and cigarette lighter type unit mounted on the left passenger grab rail.

I suppose it was just a simple mistake by the reviewer.

As you noted the wiring and connector is there (white one under the seat), if memory serves me correctly there is a round plastic hole plug in the side panel above the rear floor board or in that general area. I believe that plug fills the hole where the cigarette lighter type outlet is intended to be located. Could be wrong, been wrong before. If I still had my Venture I would go look and confirm, but it is long gone.

Steve, not sure if Yamaha intended an optional lighter plug in that right hole with plug as i had to ream the hole out to get my lighter plug to fit. But it does work great for that purpose after slight modification. Other than that, I think the ads were wrong. My 05 RSV only has the one plug under fairing...I added the second.

My 09 was the same. I put one in the spot you mentioned above. Like you, I had to enlarge the hole to accommodate the plug.
