sdive Posted April 14, 2008 #1 Posted April 14, 2008 Okay since I got the bike in the fall of 05 and the novelty oy listening to the CB wore off (quickly) I haven't used the CB,now 38000 km later one of the guys that rides with got a Vision and we tried talking to each other but my Ptt button doesn,t work we had to communicate via my wife on the back. I sprayed contact cleaner in (from outside) no change,do I have to take it all apart and clean or replace anything and will anything fall apart when I remove the housing. . Ron
sarges46 Posted April 14, 2008 #2 Posted April 14, 2008 You could do that....but it is a warranty item...bumper to bumper...let them mess it up.
Eddie Fulmer Posted April 14, 2008 #3 Posted April 14, 2008 I would make sure that you can talk when the rear transmit button is pushed. IF I'm not mistaken when the transmit button is pushed both mics are hot. You could just have a bad cord or something simple like that. Swap helmets and see what happens.
GeorgeS Posted April 14, 2008 #4 Posted April 14, 2008 Did you follow the wireing cable " from " the handle bar Switches, to a Pull Apart Plug. Wires for the " PTT ", " Dimmer Switch " , and " Horn Switch " go thru this plug. It should be located, behind the Head light. After the PTT signal goes thru this plug, it then goes to another Plug located withing a few Inches of the Main CB UNIT. Either of these two plugs, might have a bad connection. I would think the one located by the CB unit itself is the culprit. I have found a couple of loose wires at crimps of the pins on this plug. See, Page 8-41 and 8-42 of the Service Manual, for the Wireing diagrams, and Wireing Color Codes.
sdive Posted April 15, 2008 Author #5 Posted April 15, 2008 Thanks guys I will stop by the dealer once I have quick look to make sure it is not something simple such as loose connector. Ron
