Doug royal86 Posted June 9, 2016 #1 Posted June 9, 2016 My cassette deck is not working. I would like to get one that works. Trying to keep every thing as it was made. I had one on the shelf at one time but for some reason it is gone. And also the cassette cover. I also have a cover for that side if anyone needs it. I think people comes in my garage when I am sleeping and move things. Thanks
bongobobny Posted June 9, 2016 #2 Posted June 9, 2016 I have an extra I refurbished a few years ago, I installed new belts, they should still be good, and cleaned and demag'ed the head. I don't have an easy way to make sure it is still operational but don't see any reason it wouldn't, it takes many years for the three belts to deteriorate. Are you, or anyone you know coming to MD?? It will save shipping costs...
Doug royal86 Posted June 9, 2016 Author #3 Posted June 9, 2016 no one I know is going to md I would but I would have to quit my job. I am not sure what is wrong with mine. where can you get belts. I might try to refurb mine
Doug royal86 Posted June 10, 2016 Author #4 Posted June 10, 2016 I got the deck working . used some belt conditioner on a Q-tip and electric cleaner and got it going
bongobobny Posted June 10, 2016 #5 Posted June 10, 2016 OK!!! I'll take my refurb unit out of my trunk then, packed it last night just in case. When I was doing deck refurbs, (did about a dozen or so) I was buying them in quantity from an online supplier but I forgot what the name was. I have also forgotten the measurements too. I remember the raw cost for the three belts was around $4 each. I was doing an exchange program for $25, and the flat rate shipping was $11, so it was pretty much a labor of love project...
