ReinyRooster Posted June 7, 2016 #1 Posted June 7, 2016 Hoping someone will be able to troubleshoot an electrical issue I have while we're at Don's MD. My outlet under the left inside of the fairing is not working, so I can't use the GPS....in fact, without it I may not even find my way to Don's!!:confused24:
XV1100SE Posted June 7, 2016 #2 Posted June 7, 2016 If you have time the next couple evenings let me know. If you want to come over we can take a look and figure it out. I'm off all day Thursday as well. Did you check the fuse to begin with?
Flyinfool Posted June 7, 2016 #3 Posted June 7, 2016 If you don't have it fixed before MD I am sure we can get it done there. I will bring a bunch of electrical stuff.
bongobobny Posted June 7, 2016 #4 Posted June 7, 2016 Yup Reiny, one of us will get 'er done! I have a short project with Leo3wheel that will take me about a half hour to an hour but after that I'm free. As mentioned, there is a fuse for that outlet on the fuse block that is located inside the front lower cowl, the right one I think. It is not the fuse block that is behind the false battery cover. Also that plug is only on with ignition I think...
leo3wheel Posted June 7, 2016 #5 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Reiny, Yes, bet it is the fuse. Blew mine in Arkansas with my air pump and lost use of my GPS. Opened the right cowling and replaced the 5A fuse with a spare provided. Edited June 7, 2016 by leo3wheel
ReinyRooster Posted June 7, 2016 Author #6 Posted June 7, 2016 Thanks for all the offers....I believe some mucking around was done in that area last year and now the plug for the GPS is a real loose fit so I believe it is probably more then just a fuse, but I will check into that as well.

Do I need to bring the 2nd gen electrical manual with me when I come.I can if need be.
ReinyRooster Posted June 8, 2016 Author #8 Posted June 8, 2016 OK...seems leo3wheel wins the prize! It was nothing more then a blown fuse. Thanks to XV1100SE for the assistance tonight. Got her all fixed up, cleaned up and tomorrow she'll be gassed up....c'mon Friday.
