Freebird Posted June 7, 2016 #1 Posted June 7, 2016 Well there are still a couple of things needed for my new '05 Midnight but most can wait for a while. I woke up around midnight though and haven't been able to sleep and I went out to the garage for a few minutes and there is one thing that is glaringly missing. It just doesn't look right. Who can guess what I'm talking about?
Freebird Posted June 7, 2016 Author #3 Posted June 7, 2016 Nope. That may come at some point but not what I'm looking at.
Freebird Posted June 7, 2016 Author #6 Posted June 7, 2016 You nailed it. Not so much front but definitely rear.
M61A1MECH Posted June 7, 2016 #8 Posted June 7, 2016 You nailed it. Not so much front but definitely rear. What did I win? You could also change out the filler plates above the rear floorboards to the ball milled style, everything else chrome I can see looks to be ball milled except those.
yamagrl Posted June 7, 2016 #9 Posted June 7, 2016 The most significant thing that's missing is ... A Rider!
Marcarl Posted June 7, 2016 #10 Posted June 7, 2016 The top part of the picture! Well maybe just as well!
Trader Posted June 7, 2016 #12 Posted June 7, 2016 I thought maybe the nut that connects the handlebars to the seat!
XV1100SE Posted June 7, 2016 #13 Posted June 7, 2016 You could get the battery side covers chromed.....
bongobobny Posted June 7, 2016 #14 Posted June 7, 2016 TJ beat me to the punch by the reflection in the chrome!!! How about the covers for the front engine mounts?? The Diamond cut guy sells a really nice looking set of diamond cut covers, seeing as the aftermarket chrome ones are as rare as hen's teeth...
Freebird Posted June 7, 2016 Author #15 Posted June 7, 2016 The seat is the Russell Daylong. Passenger backrest is a Corbin that I had them recover to match. I am ok without the motor mount covers and not all that crazy about the chrome side covers. I like them in the black. I really don't want much more. I am honestly pretty much done with it. There are a handful of things that I will add at some point. First will be the chrome passenger floorboards but the cheapest I've found them is $204.00. I will also eventually add the wind deflectors that attach to the crash bars. The last thing will probably be the SpeedoHealer.
saddlebum Posted June 7, 2016 #16 Posted June 7, 2016 What seat is that? I don't recognize it. RRWhich seat are you trying to check out .......The one on the bike or the one in the reflection .....maybe Don can turn around for you ....Would that help
RedRider Posted June 7, 2016 #17 Posted June 7, 2016 The seat is the Russell Daylong. Passenger backrest is a Corbin that I had them recover to match. Interesting. I haven't seen a RDL with the step down 'Goldwing' type seat back. My RDL doesn't have that. However, if you ever intend to try for another Iron Butt run, you will LOVE the RDL. RR
M61A1MECH Posted June 7, 2016 #18 Posted June 7, 2016 You can polish the bottoms of those floor boards and they will look like chrome, but you have to stay up with them or they will oxidize back to dull after a while. I wonder what would happen if you polished and clear coated them??
slowrollwv Posted June 7, 2016 #19 Posted June 7, 2016 You can polish the bottoms of those floor boards and they will look like chrome, but you have to stay up with them or they will oxidize back to dull after a while. I wonder what would happen if you polished and clear coated them?? Steve they would look good and you will not have to keep them polished. The clear coat will work just like any other paint but make sure you get a good clear coat or it will turn milky.
stickhandle2 Posted June 8, 2016 #20 Posted June 8, 2016 The side covers are missing the chrome strip.......more chrome more speed and better handling....everyone knows that.
oldgoat Posted June 8, 2016 #21 Posted June 8, 2016 I was going to say the oil spot from the Harley but I will be nice LOL
Danaman Posted June 8, 2016 #23 Posted June 8, 2016 Where did you find the chrome passenger floorboard?
b2dad Posted June 8, 2016 #24 Posted June 8, 2016 I knew you weren't done!!! No man is ever done with with his bike...always something else to add on. Sheesh!!!!
Freebird Posted June 8, 2016 Author #25 Posted June 8, 2016 The cheapest I've found the chrome passenger floorboards is here. http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/detail/yamaha/5s7-f74b0-v0-00/b2822202?gclid=Cj0KEQjwvtS6BRC8pcKn8OXIg_wBEiQAqtpiz6LTsTSimWCniNtBmzSI09QUACJsiM4urju5hto7FyYaAnhf8P8HAQ They show no picture but if you search that part number you will find plenty of pictures.
