syscrusher Posted May 27, 2016 #26 Posted May 27, 2016 I agree that there will be a gain Kev , but.... the improvement over OEM's will not be as significant as when the R1/6 is applied to the MKI's. I always thought the OEM calipers on the MKII's were decent, and not in need of much help, if any. I know the debate on braking improvement can go on and on... much like the best oil... but I just don't see the need to spend the bucks. The Blue Dots look really good on a blue Gen 1.2. When I upgraded I had thought double 'HH' pads weren't available for the stock calipers, I think I was wrong about that though. I upgraded at the same time that I de-linked. Why do all that twice and save just $40 not using the blue dot calipers? Along those same lines, BlueSky, don't try to save money by not replacing the two sets of fork bushings when you re-do the seal. I also recommend replacing the dust seal as well. It's cheap insurance against needing to do it all over again after it still leaks.

My 89 only has about 6,500 miles on it so I would not expect those bushings will need replacement. We are still working on the dang Mustang. I'm 72 so I'm letting my son do most of the work. When I get the chance I will measure the caliper pistons of the stock calipers and the R1 and decide if I will change the right front. The pads appear to be the same size except my stock pads are as thick as new pads. I may have a rf R1 for sale soon.
BlueSky Posted May 29, 2016 Author #28 Posted May 29, 2016 We are finished with the Mustang!!!! My son's good friend who dabbles in cars got his favorite mechanic/shop to install the last item and align it on a Saturday afternoon/night. So, I hope it's over for me. After this weekend of company, maybe I can get to my motorcycle. Time to order fork seals and progressive springs. I'll still have about a week by myself before my Sweetie gets back from her trip to her homeland.
